Hope Anne won't mind me posting this.  You can find her part here.
And there's more in the comments here.
And here's where we're told he got home alive and more-or-less in one piece.

Do we need a Wiki page for Interesting Stuff Which Happens In Deltas' LJs?

MG, thanks for posting all that. Now I don't need to look for it either! (Yeah, yeah. What are these "tags" of which you speak?)

Why did they travel DFW->Tyler->rentacar drive 3 hours to Woodville?  It would be faster  (and a few hundred dollars cheaper) to do Houston Intercontinental->rentacar to Woodville. The route would be simpler too.  US59 north from the airport (very simple, not sure if the highway goes south of it, its almost like US59 is the airport's driveway), then go east on US190 when you get to Livingston. 45 minutes later you are there.

Except that Tyler, where Chaz had inheited a house, was one of the points of the trip.  The other two points (music festival, BBQ with some Texas girl) were the fun parts.  the house was duty.

I certainly hope Chaz learned his lesson: "Eat dessert first-- Life is uncertain!"

Kurgan, I wondered the same thing. The lawyers were in Tyler, so that's where Chaz flew into. The plan was Tyler, Fred, Austin (for BBQ! Waaah!), Kerrville, Dallas, home.
