Bad cupcakes attempt to drown their badness in massive amounts of lousy sugary frosting.

Ask the SU writing staff how they were reminded of this recently. (Hint: NOT at Red Velvet Cupcakery (http://www.redvelvetcupcakery.com/).)

1) How were you reminded of this recently? (if you actually want someone to ask, and this isn't just another example of my tendency to do what I'm told helping me make a fool of myself)

2) Is the Red Velvet Cupcakery run by vampires? B/c a click through to the home page gave me that distinct impression. :- )

CupCakes (http://tucsoncupcakes.com/) were very Not Nice. Lots 'n' lots of gloppy, too-sweet frosting with a bit of a vegetable-shortening taste on cupcakes that tasted like supermarket cake mix.  Not Nice.

Red Velvet Cupcakery, on the other hand, fed us lovely cupcakes. I think the red velvet was my favorite, but the chocolate and chile was right up there. And the manager has good taste in audio (Nekko Case, Bonnie Raitt...).

I gotta say, as an occasional baker and very picky eater of cake myself, I was pretty pleased with the Red Velvet cupcakes.

And I agree with Emma on the other place.  Nasty.
