Hi.

The reason this board is here is because Em received a suggestion that it would be very cool if fans could make videos of SU stuff. So there you go: we authorize you to create derivative works from our Shadow Unit related works (up to and including adapting them for film, if you wish, or writing your own scripts based on these characters and worldbuilding) The caveat is, you may not profit from such works, nor may they infringe the copyright of others without permission from the copyright holder.

Please keep it, you know, more or less clean. Or if you're doing Shadow Unit, The Porn Hour, please don't tell me. I don't want to imagine Falkner wearing nothing but a bra and a knotted silk handkerchief.

If you want to make money off Shadow Unit, well, drop Em a message on her board. She always wanted to be a producer. ;-)

Also, it would be nice if you would let other fans use your work to create their own fan-created stuff, under the same terms we're offering.

This is what Em said, originally, to the rest of us:

"It's a television show!" he said. "It needs video! It needs low-res, shaky cellphone-camera video full of fast cuts and shots of disturbing, half-seen stuff!"

"I know, [name of fan redacted unless sie wishes to out sieself.]," I replied. "In my copious free time."

"So get your viewers to do it!" he said.

Duh. Of course. Fanvid. The BBS folks to do their own videos, in what they imagine would be the style of Shadow Unit, post them on YouTube or their own site, and post links on the BBS. Clips or Shadow Unit music videos or video fragments the team collects as evidence.

He also suggested that we ask folks to send us mug shots to use on the site: we'll choose our favorites, and reader/viewers can make guest appearances as photos of victims (before or after!) or as UnSubs.

So there you go. Have fun. report back.

See, I don't know about you guys, but I have a not-so-secret ambition to someday be a Dead Body on Criminal Minds. Yes, a gray staring corpse. And if my dream came true, I would call all my friends to make sure they watched televison and caught my thrilling appearance as an ex-person.

But I"m willing to acknowledge that that sort of thing might not be on everyone's list of dream jobs.

Woo! Mug shots of readers! It'd be fantastic. And then if you came across us in real life, you'd be able to run before you were tackle-glomped.

Yeah! We could submit mug shots and also "Have you seen this person?" shots, for those "looking for the Unsub" montages.

*giggles* When I was in high school drama, a recent graduate came for 'show and tell' about her first big part in TV....as a corpse on CSI. She played a dead hooker. Yay!

I have to say, I've been keeping my eyes peeled for any random sightings of SU folk, potential UNSUBs and, of course, an eggplant purple SUV. Cheesy
