I shall consult with the family geeks about what the options are- the place we're spending the holiday is 45 minutes out of town, up a mountainside, 'turn off the paved road at ___' territory.

Turn left at the axe-murderer.  Pass on by the dilapidated apparently abandoned farm.  Do not stop in the forest, or stray off the path.  Leave one (1) saucer full of milk and one (1) slice of bread by the rock with a hole in it.  Then it's third on the right.  Can't miss it.

I'm glad I'm spending Contentmas at home, with decent broadband access.

If you want, I could gloat or something...

I'll be at my partner's parents' house. Wonder if I can convince them to give over the Internet for an hour or two for my reading pleasure....

Contentmas! Win!

My parents won't be surprised when I vanish into the Internet for a while--vanishing into Christmas books is a hallowed family tradition, after all.

I'll be cooking, acting as referee and hopefully there will be a glass or two of Bucks Fizz for me. So I'll not get to this for a couple of days - but it'll give me a treat to look foward to.  Grin

Do not go too far from the house because in winter the bears (not our Bear, but the wildlife kind) sometimes come down from the higher elevations looking for food.  Trufax.

Trufax indeed. This year, even within the Seattle city limits. (Haven't heard of any over here on Bainbridge, but they wouldn't have that far to swim from Bremerton...)

Also, leave a small saucer of whiskey outside the kitchen door..

Thanks for the reminder! I shall have to construct an acceptible excuse for my family as to why I am ditching them on Christmas to huddle over my laptop and read. Cheesy

You mean they aren't used to that already? I got LotR for the first time one Christmas and they didn't see me again apart from mealtimes until I'd finished it on Boxing Day Wink

They understand, but they expect me to delay gratification for the sake of polite company and, ya know, family. Meh. Wink

It's a bear repellant Shocked

As I may be vanishing into the wilds of no wifi tomorrow morning and this is likely the last pass before then, I'll take the chance to wish everyone the compliments of the season - have a good one and I'll be back in 2010....
