... and, as usual, the entire thread devolves into a food discussion!

Roasted or in the form of Nutella?

These.  Gotta be.
Their dry-roasted hazelnuts are also awesome.  I chop 'em up and sprinkle them over chevre spread on crispbreads, then toast the whole thing.  Bedtime snack.

Ding-ding-ding!

MG, it's just cruel to mention such things when I don't have them (or a viable substitute) on hand.  Cry

Oh, Belgian dark chocolate... *salivates some more*

Snacking, folks, snacking. I don't know where you got any other ideas, and frankly I'm not sure I want to know =)

First time commenting, but I've been following the series since ep1. I'm an LEO, and this episode was, in places, tough to read. But in the sense that it was gripping and meaningful, not obscene or depraved. First responders, even the ones who get to wear body armor, are terribly vulnerable, and there's a particular kind of fear when going through a door and not knowing what's on the other side. The traps the UNSUB set really tapped into that feeling of dread laced with panic. Also, the idea of someone hurting innocent people just to scar those trying to help was handled with an impressive level of sophistication.

From what was described (and not), to the the characters being aware of how unreasonably horrific the crimes were, the author managed to turn what could have been a real disaster into a terrific, resonate story. Good job, keep going please. This is the best TV I've never watched.

I just thought of something--and ya'll might already know this--while reading the scene where Lau's being grabbed by her hair.  When I was starting my job at the psych unit at the UofM hospital (as opposed to being in one...) one of the things they taught us was that if someone grabbed us by the hair the thing to do wasn't to try and pull the other person's hand away, but to push it against one's head.  The hand would automatically open up.

Also, if grabbed by the wrist or if being bitten do the opposite of one's natural inclination.  Don't pull the arm away from the 'grabber', push it into 'em, or push into the bite.

Again, ya'll might already know this, but I thought it might be useful info.

LOVED this episode!

Truecoffee, is your UofM the Michigan one?  I'm just always excited when I meet people online from Michigan.

I wonder if the pushing is a little bit like turning the wheel into, rather than away from, a skid (which I didn't quite believe until I skidded, turned the wheel away, and almost got myself destroyed.)

Where in Michigan are you, Haycorn?  I'm in Lansing.

I'm -from- Wisconsin, and I'm definitely biased towards my home state, but there's a lot of good in Michigan!

I am originally from the Downriver area (basically the suburbs and little cities along the river south of Detroit) but I'm now about 15-20 miles east of Ann Arbor.

Many places still have it, yes. *g* (I don't know if San Diego is one of them, but I bet Lau doesn't, off the top of her head, either.)

(Also, thank you. *g*)

Hmm. I'm not sure I feel confident about all this must-reread-to-comment.....

(late to comment, but...) Think of it as the moment of silence before the standing ovation starts.  Some things need to be digested before they can be reacted to.

On re-re-(re!)reading of some of the SU episodes, I've been noticing some narrative errors.  I looked for a general place to drop these on both the forum and the wiki, but I'm not seeing anything. (These are things that seem a little more extensive than just typos, or I'd put them in that thread.)  So I'm checking the individual episode threads for mention of them, and will detail them when I don't see a prior mention.  I don't know if they'll be any use, but if the PTB ever want to revise for dead-tree publication, these might be places to start.  So, in this ep:

-After making a point of Chaz's new AOP in the previous episode, there shouldn't be any references in the opening scene to him "opening" and "closing" his phone.
-When the team arrives at the Wilson house: nobody in that neighborhood is going back inside to "get ready for work or school" on Black Friday.  To go shopping, maybe. =)

Yeah, I've worked through enough Bank Holidays over the years if the project demanded it. The Easter Weekend was particularly lucrative, ISTR working Easter Sunday was treble time plus a day in lieu, double time plus a day in lieu for the rest of Friday through Monday.
