This is really nifty, and I agree with everybody on the head disintegration--and with Jeffy on teh computer bit feeling a bit long. (It's two credit names and each other effect is one.)

Of course, if this were the really real show, the last name would be "and Dame Judi Dench as Dr. Frost." *g*

If only we could just get a fictional one of those any time we liked....

Even better! I don't suppose you could do the computer stuff when Vivian's name is onscreen? Because the DNA for Beto still makes me squee. And if you have some extra time at the end, you could do one of those "and DAME JUDI DENCH as DR. FROST" things. Because I'm sure her contract includes being credited even when she's not in the ep--I think the SAG rule is that you're credited if you're in more than 4 eps.

I like it.  Agree that the various sequences are a little disjointed.

1) More sequences!  Maybe something with crime-lab or detective feel (a fingerprint?) for the forensics side, and files/paper reports/dusty old filing cabinets for the research/archive, make-Chaz-read-tons-of-stuff side?

2) I like the different color-tones for the sequences.  What about some sort of patchwork/maze/picture using those colors/images behind the final logo?

3) The final logo comes up too soon.  The last bit seems oddly static (for too long) after all the motion.  Chopping the clip shorter would of course work, but I am greedy enough to want more of this awesome great stuff.  (And obviouslt the WTF Network would want a full-length music video for U-Tube, right?)

4) A sequence for each character, synched with the actor's name would be cool, though maybe too trite.

5) What!  No eggplant-colored SUV?  No guns, no steenking badges?   Wink

LOL... I've created a monster here...  I'm going to work on incorporating everyone's suggestions as much as it practical, but a couple of things to consider:

  • I'm putting this together with licensed stock footage. My choices are somewhat limited in that respect.  I'd love it if we had live action shots of some FBI-ish action, etc.  I just haven't been able to find anything that would have avoided the "Chaz does NOT look like that" comments.  Wink
  • I've already spent *cough* almost $400 on the footage for a 60-second opening sequence.  As far as live action shots or other ideas, I would LOVE it if some of the other fans would get in touch with me about some fan-created video or motion artwork.  I'm packing to move at the moment, so I unfortunately don't have my camera available to shoot anything here in SoCal.  Perhaps once I get settled in Seattle in a month or two.
  • A 60-minute Tv drama is actually around 43-47 minutes in edited length in order to make room for commercials.  This is one of the reasons that a lot of shows have experimented with a VERY short 10-15 second motion title card, and actually roll the credits over the opening scenes.  Most full-length opening credit sequences are no longer than about a minute, and I've tried to respect that time limit.
  • Without violating copyright on the music, I can't edit or rearrange it to better suit an opening title sequence.  "Half Angel, Half Eagle" is difficult to work with in editing because there's very little repetition and a lot of little "hits" and such.  It would be far easier to use the whole piece, but no network on the planet would let you get away with a 2-1/2 minute long title sequence for a TV show.

This is not a list of "no ways," but things I'm hoping that some of the other fans may have ideas on how to solve.  Thank you, everyone, for your rapid critical feedback!

P.S. - This is also where I'm going to confess that I'm still reading Season One, so I may have left things out that should be included. If they're spoiler-ish, please send me a PVT message and we can discuss it out of the public view.  I'm not worried about myself, but I would hate to ruin someone else's reading experience.

Whoa, that's awesome.  Much easier to see the title this time, and I like the effect with it.  It did linger a bit too long - you could put some PTB names under the title after it's shown up, maybe?

So, here's Idea #3 with most everyone's suggestions.  I feel like we're closer.  Hope no one is offended that I replaced the music...

I loved it. I watched it and was then slightly disappointed that there was no actual show to follow.

WOW.

That is, indeed, awesome.

And I really like the "place-holder" music, too.  (And a show like this, it makes sense the theme is not right-out obvious.  Bet it's used a lot as background in scenes, though.)

Again, WOW.
