Oh, that's gorgeous.  And I like the music very much.

You know, big a fanboy geek as I am I actually made two versions, and the official theme does not work at all with the timing of the evolved version of the clip.  I think it would if we had action shots... chases on foot, an eggplant SUV or two...  Smiley

I'm now wondering if MG could make us an eggplant SUV.  Plus, it could guest-star in an episode.  (Lau's birthday dinner?  A gift from Chaz?  If they're still alive...)

I wonder how the Labor Day holiday will affect the arrival of Content.  Government employees get the day off, but the team is pretty darn essential personnel. (As are the PTB.)

Here, here.  However, the Labor Day holiday should be one for the arrival of drinks and things cooked with fire(Or in MG's case, lasers).

Sure... the files are FLV.  They download, they don't stream.  You can download the files to your computer and play them back with VLC, which supports the FLV file type and the VP6 codec.

Yay! - yes, that's a link I can use. (And while I didn't notice it while wandering through the source yesterday, I'm also thinking I was more ill than I realized. I've gotten fourteen hours of sleep in the last twenty-four. Which is kind of awesome.)

*thinks about it*

. . . maybe . . . be a bitch to carve, but maybe I could sculpt it out of baba ganouj or something.  But why would I want to?  I hate eggplant.

Nuh-uh.  Lasers don't show up properly without way too much smoke.  No, no, I prefer to cook with blowtorches!

Oh, yeah, and the opening credits are indeed most awesome.

*pained* Which would seem to be an argument in favor of carving one. (Or growing one into a mould - I suspect they'd do well with that.)

But really... all eggplant? Grilled eggplant? Stuffed eggplant (really, stuffed eggplants is its own subgenre)? Baba ganoush? Caponata? Roast vegetable salad with eggplant (oh, I got the best recipe for this from an Israeli woman...)? Ratatouille? Eggplant soup? (There is a saying in Turkey that there are 500 ways of preparing eggplant, and if you don't know at least 50, you'll die a spinster... While the sexism involved is abhorrent, I am fond of that saying.)

Well, deep fried eggplant with good sauce, caponata the way I learned to make it in class (sauteed so it's not slimy), and Thai eggplant in green curry do seem to be exceptions.  I had bad experiences with eggplant in my youth, and for a long time had an utter horror of them, so even these few exceptions are a lot of progress for me.

I could grow it in a mold, but that would require me to grow eggplants, and why would I want to do that?  Besides, they don't seem to grow very well here, if my friend's efforts are anything to go by.  And my carving skills are not currently up to the task of carving one well, and really, eggplants do not properly lend themselves to the shape of an SUV.

And mirrors! Don't forget the mirrors!

The mirrors are in the laser, Jeff.

Hey, Tylik, that roasted-veg salad is right up my alley. Put it in the Recipes thread?

This seems to be common. I sometimes attribute it to the late seventies early eighties trend of trying to cook vegetables quickly and lightly... which is a really horrible idea for eggplants, and leaves them resembling bitter styrofoam. But I expect there is more to that story.

I really adore eggplants. Mousaka! Darn, I could do with some good mousaka right now. (However, I'm still sick, and didn't make it to the farmer's market this morning. OTOH, I just took apple break out of the oven, and apple bread makes up for a lot.)

Though I've seen some rather naturally minivan shaped eggplants.

Eggplants around Seattle are a tricky proposition, but it's all about microclimates. I got something more than thirty eggplants off of a single plant in a strawberry pot when I was on the boat - lots of light, good thermal mass so it never got too cold, and fertilizer from indoor sun shop.

My mother can't cook.  I thought for the longest time that I hated zucchini and yellow summer squash, because she always cooked them to a slimy mush.  Ditto eggplant, which was always slimy, bitter, or both.  Plus the huge, overbred ones they mostly have in markets tend not to taste as good as the smaller heirloom varieties.

I suppose I could do something with one of those, but frankly, I'm not going to try unless one really jumps out at me as being the right shape.

I hear you there. My mom is mostly just a really mediocre cook (it took her fifteen years to learn how to cook a pot roast that wasn't terrible, but she did learn) but I also grew up supertasting bitters, so a lot of things were pretty hard for me to deal with. But I was also exposed to a really wide range of foods, which helped.

...and I still can't see this one.

The player just sits there with it's loading icon in motion, and I can't even find the stream (assuming I'm getting it) so I can send it somewhere else.

Clues for the clueless?

I have a very similar* problem, and my MacBook generally handles things fine.  Wah.

Am going to try the download.

* At first, it starts off just fine, but gets about seven seconds in (or fewer) and freezes. Attempts to reload result in nothing at all but the spinning loading icon.

Download works. At least, the first, third and fourth ones do. The second made VLC go all spangydoodle.
