(Okay, now I have a mental image of Brady in high heels which Will. Not. Go. Away.)

I always thought cowboy boots were just an excuse for men to wear high heels...

We need an excuse?   Have you forgotten the 70's?  (And, if so, tell me how...)

"Danny, that's good," his mother said, sounding strange and strained and cautious. "What's--"

They were? My memory is throwing up something about Catherine de Medici... But maybe she just made them fashionable.

Of course, platform shoes were worn as early as by the ancient Egyptians, at least certain classes/professions.

So a friend who studied fashion history used to tell me.  Something about men in the court of Louis XIV, I think.  I"m too sleepy today to look it up.

Louis XIV didn't invent them, he just made them fashionable. He was a dancer, you know, and he liked to show off his legs. In this one, he was old and plain, but you can see his inner dandy: http://www.getty.edu/art/gettyguide/artObjectDetails?artobj=582&handle=li

ooh, and here he is in his Apollo costume--the one that gave him the "Sun King" nickname: http://cynthia.weisse.club.fr/iddmoliere/deguisev.jpg

Figure between nine and eleven EST--Amanda works until 8 central.

This one is worth the wait, though. No mere bagatelle.

I should probably not stay up so late in hopes of reading.

But since I'm still awake, I may as well stay that way.
