It's your birthday? You were born on Halloween?"
"Statistically speaking, someone has to be."
"Yeah. But it was you. Suddenly the universe doesn't look so random."

Also, I liked this episode alot, but I am gonna be gone again before it digests fully so I'll leave it at that. Also, I had never heard of the term "hypervigilant", thanks Emma.

Be safe and travel well, man. Check in when you gets back! And yeah, "hypervigilant." Isn't it useful?

And yeah, "hypervigilant." Isn't it useful? Ah yes, one of my PTSD symptoms, along with the incessant nightmares. (I'm almost afraid to say that they've been getting a bit less intense; give me a few more years...*wry*)

Etherjammer, you rock!
Fabulous episode. More comments when I've had sleep and processing time and read it more than once.
If I post right away, I just babble incoherently and squee a lot. *g*

Nicely written, Emma. "Skullcrusher Mountain" is in my top 5 Anomaly songs. (The fanfic whose excerpt I posted a while back is heavily informed by "The Future Soon"... and speaking of which, the line about Hafidha undergoing tests like a cat undergoing baths was really helpful on that front, actually.) It was nice to see an episode that focused on Reyes. I keep getting the impression that if he were actually faced with the prospect of being "too old for this", he'd commit suicide-by-gamma rather than retire. It makes sense that Chaz's birthday is on Halloween. It was that or Leap Day...

And I love the Brady/Chaz interaction. *obligingly squeees for all you authorial types, but especially Emma, today*Beautiful, beautiful episode. I'm impressed that even after reading Emma's LJ post about how happy she was with this episode, it still exceeded my expectations. And they weren't small expectations, by any means. Like others have said, it was good to see deeper into Brady, Lau, Falkner and especially Reyes heads. Makes them much more human, and I'm really beginning to like Brady, even. I think it was the way he's taken to looking after Chaz that tipped the scales for me, although the extra with him and Daphne certainly didn't hurt any. I also loved the whole 'Ill drive. No!' thing between coyote and cowboy. *studiously doesn't think about there only being two more episodes left in the season*

And what's wrong with that is...? Brought to you by the More Squee for Authors Foundation. "I'll drive." "NO." Oh that made me crow with delight. Danny, drat him, is determined to work his way into my heart and I am too old, not his preferred gender and already married. The brave sisters three, like something out of a fairy tale and they fight the dragons their own damn selves! Girls FTW. Todd calling Chaz Grasshopper. Mom and Dad, great to get more time with them and some hints at what's happening in their heads. Nice to see the thinking that goes into walking the tightrope between doing the job and keeping the team alive. Things I like a lot a lot besides the character development (of which there can never be too much)- the sense of place really came alive for me this time. The land and the uses it was being put to, the damage being done to the environment that mirrored the damage gammas do to their victims. It felt like the wounded desert was the gammas first victim. The careful delineation between stopping gammas and saving people. The glimpses of the team through each other's eyes and the things that reveals. The careful dance the team does around keeping the betsa fed without treating them like children or freaks. Faulkner as Raven. Raven is wise but doesn't always bring good news. Raven can cross the threshold and brings word back and forth between the lands of the living and the dead. Raven is transformation. Odin travelled with two ravens Huginn and Muninn, Thought and Memory. Raven music, played on a stone harp: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TRQ2WwiMndY
