I've never been to the one in Issaquah. I'm never there, and indeed barely know where it is. I just know that the one on north 99 and the one in South Center don't make them all day.

I grew up with them. In college, during finals, when we got too twitchy from studying, at some point someone would call around and tell everyone it was time for a KK run, then collect all of us, and we'd bounce back and forth between the three Tallahassee locations until one of them had the HOT NOW sign lit. We'd fill up on caffein and sugar, and go back to studying.

I admit, my palate has changed since then, and they're kinda sweet for me now, but if I could get them hot and fresh, I'd eat them a lot more often. I still do when I go back to Florida. I usually catch a red eye in, and my dad picks me up in Orlando at 6:30am, and I'm all bleary and cranky, and we head on back, and when we get to the coast, he looks at me and says, "Hot Now?" And I go, "Oh, definitely," and we stop off in Melbourne and get some before driving the last half-hour down to Sebastian. Because when they're hot and fresh, and I'm all tired and cranky, damn they're good.

When the Issaquah one opened, it was the first in the region and demand was relentless - there'd be a line of cars there all of the time. (And I sweat 30% of total production ended up at various Microsoft functions...)

I doubt that's been sustained, but it did last for a good long time.

I don't have the historical associations, and even hot they were... well, good for what they were, and interesting, but not something I'd cross the street for. (Well, maybe late at night when cold and sleep deprived.)

To me, a donut should be just slightly crunchy on the outside, with no obvious grease, and be tender and fall apart in your mouth in the middle. The soft yeast risen thing... meh.

Whereas I have only very recently come to appreciate cake donuts at all. They're so dense and crumbly, when all the donuts I always liked (not just KK) were light and airy, with just a tiny bit of tooth. When I first tried Top Pot, I didn't like them at all. They were like nicer versions of grocery store bakery donuts, rather than like proper donut shop donuts, to me. I only acquired a taste for them because I had a friend who'd whine when I insisted on KK, and would pester me into taking her to TP (an ex of our mutual friend Six's, actually).

Back from the hospital, where I was an impatient patient, to finally add some comments.

1. ECR.

2. This whole Gamma-hunt reads to me like a trap for Nikki, like Hope Mitchel was a trap for Reyes, like The Relative was a trap for Chaz, and like Quantico was an exploratory trap.  These feel like targeted situations to me, possibly targeted Gammas.  (Creating Gammas to order?   Shocked  )

3. "Fetch"?  Dunno where the Reyes/Chaz relationship is at, but that didn't feel healthy.

4. Ligature, care and meaning of.  Embrace the power of "and". Also, spooky unexplained death scene.  Again.

5. Night Kitchen.  Good.  I always like those putting-out-characters-back-together parts, even when you're being mean and taking them apart instead.   Nice to see the acknowledgment of that first episode, and Chaz' feelings now about his behavior then.

Yeah, it was wacky when they opened. I ride past there every day on my way to and from work and judging by the smell (rather, lack) they've abandoned the cook-all-day paradigm. (and MG, Issaquah is right here *points at floor*)

I have to admit my favorite cake donuts are pretty light. I *miss* buttermilk donuts...

But of course!

And I try to stop by most visits out, but I didn't make it this last time.

If cider doughnuts are anything like cider, and if Danny is anything like me*...he'd totally be a convert.

Yankee Cider: Brainwashing Texans since 2011.

although it is never really made clear where the initial sample to compare against the forensic sample came from.

Nor do we know that that sample they have was acquired post-mortem.

Amongst other things, there were probably skin cells on the edges of the hole Hope punched in Reyes' Caddy's grille.

Is there a picture of the Button/Jacob's Ladder online anywhere?

There is, both stills and video!
Here is the construction blog and some photos taken in our garage: http://www.attoparsec.com/a-ladder.html

Elegant!

Apple cider doughnuts are also known in Illinois: http://www.yelp.com/biz/edwards-apple-orchard-poplar-grove

(In fact, got a few packs in the freezer ready to heat up even as I type...)
