In Water Flowing Underground Esther is on administrative leave.

I don't recall, does the WTF have a routine administrative leave for anyone involved in a shooting, or is there something else going on here?

Shootings in other episodes have produced administrative leaves.

Am not clear on FBI procedures -- no idea what other things might produce such a leave.  Chaz (after release from durance medical) and Reyes (after Miner mishap) may also have gotten such leaves.

Unfortunately time constraints prevent proper research at this time.  (Well, time and lack of sleep, and the Dell support guy in the other window.)

I seem to recall mention in the first season (I believe in knock on coffins, but possibly earlier as well) of mandatory administrative leave after a shooting. The context being Hafidha's leave, and everyone missing her - or at least Chaz attributing such to everyone. There are probably other triggers for administrative leave as well, of course.

Per the LJs, Sol has also gone out on administrative leave at least once, after shooting the telekinetic gamma who dropped a stained-glass window on Reyes.  It does seem to be a consistent requirement after an agent kills a suspect, probably because every such shooting has to be investigated.

Considering the WTF terminates gammas with extreme prejudice on a regular basis, it means they're going to be below full stength as often as not. Mind you, while I'm not saying that familiarity breeds contempt, it does have some advantages -- in what other unit could you get away with breaking the UNSUB's neck with a lamp-cord....
