I'm reading this as slowly as possible. I absolutely love the incluing, as well as Mildmay! And Felix! Poor dear broken boys. I miss Mehitabel quite a lot, but Kay is worth listening to.

And now I'm going to dive back in. See ya!

ETA: Finished. Labyrinthine. Gorgeous.

*pouts* My bookstore doesn't have it yet. I preordered it months ago too.

All I have so far are the first two chapters she recorded Sad

I feel like I shouldn't be spoiling, but.  Like.  Felix!  And Mildmay!  and Kay!  and Mildmay!  and lighthouses!  and metaphors!  and Murtagh! and MILDMAY!

I don't think I'm quite at coherent thought level yet.

Heee, Sarah and Bear have a shelf of their own with the Labyrinth series, Bone Key, Companion to Wolves and all four Promethian Age books (deciding whether or not to get Jenny Casey or some of the standalones next)

I loved Jenny Casey. I recommend her highly. Really highly. And Carnival. And Dust. I really loved Dust. And Undertow. But I started with Jenny Casey and she is the character that first sucked me in.

I think my favorite cool bit, that WASN'T about how much I love these characters, was the bits of ancient history we got. Which is true of the other three books as well, but this time it was closer to things that I know about :wills self to not include ANY spoilers:.

Also, my local not-quite-a-giant-chain bookstore had it on the shelves thursday :is smug:.

I love the ancient history, too.

And recommend Jenny highly.

Tomorrow I get to wrestle my conscience and my budget for another addition to my Excellent Books collection.  THis would be much easier if I wasn't moving in a month. Behind every book is the shadow of a box in the basement.

For what it's worth, although I liked Hammered, Scardown, and Worldwired reasonably well, I think Bear's books keep getting better (whatever she may think of her current CEM).

I also think there's a problem with identifying that trilogy just with Jenny Casey - she's the most immediately accessible character, but it really is (well, I think) an ensemble.

---

My partner just went out and tracked down Corambis, so I will get to read it soon.  On the one hand, I'm excited.  On the other hand, the first two chapters as podcast - now firmly ensconced in my iPod - are so rich and dense that I want to write pages of exegesis and praise and exploration just based on them.  Once I've read the whole novel, I won't be able to do that any more.

Not that that's going to stop me in any way.

As of 9pm last night I am in posession of my shiny new Corambis.

Now it's on my shelf because I REALLY REALLY need to finish Smoke & Mirrors by Neil Gaiman and Watchmen so I can give them back to someone.

Hey, so if anyone's interested I went and committed fan art for this series. No spoilers, as it's actually based on 'Melusine' (what to do when 'Corambis' is finished? Why, reread the rest of the series of course!), and is more or less a texture study of Felix being emo.

I meant to say this on the mirador comm but forgot--- I am so blown away by your art.  Especially the eyes, and I just keep gazing at the background in awe.
