And: Who does he remind you of, if anyone?

One of my very good friends from high school could very well BE Charles Vilette in a very scary way. He's multiracial, stupidly tall and long-limbed, climbs when he gets the chance, is completely and totally awkwardturtle, dumbs down how intelligent he is, all that. He also eats like a cow and is probably about 90 pounds. It's infuriating. I just remember reading Chaz's description and going "...Holy shit...it's Danny."

Tall, seemingly socially awkward at least in the begining, he always struck me as a bit apart from the team, though cause of the difference are quite difference as I recall--Bayliss being rather well off.

Chaz doesn't remind me of Bayliss, but since I always loved Bayliss's character, I have noooooo problem with this. *g*
I think Bayliss is more agressive than Chaz from the beginning. Not confident, because he's very insecure as the newcomer in Homicide--but he covers it by learning to push back, where Chaz has to struggle with his impulse to become part of the wallpaper. But I can see some similarities, I think.

I will freely admit that I have watch seasons 1 and 2 of Homicide in a long time...though I will be rewatching soon.
I just order S3 from the library--and the book that inspired it all.
I blame you all.

I watched Avatar last night (pretty movie, shame about the story), and while watching it I kept thinking that Jake Sully's avatar the main character) totally made me think of Chaz, physique-wise.

Strangely, Chaz reminds me of Inda (Sherwood Smith), Skif (Mercedes Lackey) and my little brother. The physical resemblance in all three cases is non-existant: it's a mental/narrative/self-image thing, probably. All four seem to see themselves in the same way.
Anyone else get this impression?

Hmm. I haven't read the last Inda book, but I'm thinking now of similarities, and I think Inda is closer to who Chaz would like to be, or thinks he could be if it weren't for the anomaly/his background. I'm thinking of his "down the rabbithole" story, and I think I can see it there. Also, I adore them both  |
