Hmm, looks like we might get a Lau-centric episode this time, going from the placement of the new art and the teaser released with WTF BBQ Part 2.  I'm looking forward to learning more about her.

Too bad she doesn't keep an LJ!

Quick reactions (I jumped the gun on reading the episode. I appreciate consistent naming conventions Grin):

I can't believe Brady let Lau investigate possible gammas alone!  Actually, I can't believe that anyone would let anybody investigate gammas alone.  Brady, I am disappointed in you. There's a buddy system for a reason!

Nice fake-out with the other girl.

Hurray for more Frost!  I love that she actually has a sense of humor.

Oh, poor Chaz!  Someone needs to feed him (this is true at all times, I think).  But what else is going on with him?  It should take more than routine research to make him forget to eat.  *Speculates wildly*

Go ahead and ruin it for everyone, Bill. ;-)

Obviously, we need to start doing our proofreading pass offline.....

::flails::

Oh, that was *so* good! Frost's brain is a much less scary place than I'd thought. And Lau! Ooh. I've spent the season wondering why she needed perfect armor, and now I think I have an idea. I can't wait to see more of her. The Daphne/Brady/Chaz scene was just gorgeous. And the poor little UNSUB was creepy and sad in equal measure. I'm sorry it had to end that way--both for her sake and for Frost's.

I can't wait to see extended POVs from the rest of the team. Baselines, if you will.

ETA: One Easter egg later, I feel less distressed on Frost's account. I should have known she wouldn't be burdened by irrational guilt. OTOH, that italicized "competent" is still making me wonder.

Oh. Right. Easter eggs.

(No. I just kind of sat here, wibbling away; completely forgot about easter eggs.)

Have read it now. Further OMG comments to follow, if  I can get that coherent.

I had to stop reading this story a few paragraphs in and go do something else for a moment. This was a much stronger reaction than I'd expected.

The first part of the story starts out with a series of mysterious high-accuracy shootings in Maryland.

I remember going to visit my folks a week or two after the snipers had been caught. My Mom had a Newsweek article on the history of the attacks.

"At least this wasn't anywhere near you. Was it?" she asked me.

I looked at the map with the little arrows and dates, showing where the attacks had taken place.

"I work here. I get gas here. I stop here for chai some morning. I shop here..."

That was a couple years ago now. Years since I walked past one of the memorial gardens on the way to work at my second job, a couple of times a week.

But still, while I really liked the story and I enjoyed learning about more of the characters (I have a horrible soft spot for Frost, since my Mom is a veterinary pathologist, and hanging out in post rooms seems perfectly normal to me), that was the part I thought I'd come here to mention.

You made me go wash dishes.

Well, the dishes needed to be done anyway.

(I didn't even know I had a sore spot in my memory about that. Huh.)
