Sorry I've been sort of... invisible lately, by the way. Hafs gave me the riot act yesterday.

Oh, to have been a fly on the wall for that conversation.

Hey! Perhaps we will, later this season!

Ohhhh yes quite. But it sounds like Hafidha to give Chazzie shit for not hanging around so much. I can see her sitting with her chicken soup (carefully eaten away from keyboard), eyebrows all quirky, going "So. Where have -you- been lately." (No question marks.)
It seems like something she would do normally, I don't know. Maybe a been snappier because of the angry. Hmmm.

The comment thread here.
How long has it been since Hafs went out regularly with the gang?  Is this just since she was sick, or has she been less social since all the way back to November, when the call to go to the hospital came in, and Erik vanished.

I was wondering about the lack of Erik too.  But I hadn't connected it with the call from the hospital.

...aaaaaaaaand I think I'm about to make my first visit to the Not Worrying bench.

(that is how one refers to it, yes?)

After the rush to the hospital, there was this. And no more Erik sightings. And we know the first line of Wind-Up Boogeyman....

I'm way past Not Worrying.

There's plenty of room (and cookies! and now! improved! with BrainBleach!) on the FRTFO Bench.

I'm hanging out on the Not Worrying bench, for now. But all bets are off starting Sunday night.

~makes room and offers ANZAC biscuits~

Something is definitely Up with Hafs, and I think it probably does have to do with the lack of Notaboy.  When did Erik make his first appearance?

Ummm.... I think he was a Boy at the end of 2007, got ditched, then returned and achieved Notaboy status shortly after New Year's? Around there, anyway. Will have to look again.

The Wiki agrees with you.  I was wondering if Hafs might have hit an anniversary, but it's hard to tell because she didn't say much directly about that relationship, on her own journal or anyone else's.

So that's what "Notaboy" means.  It thought so, but wasn't sure.

re: timeline

Erik's last post on his LJ was back on Nov. 14th.  Hafs left work to go to the hospital on Nov. 17th.  And Chaz's LJ entry mentioned up above was on the 21st of Nov.

I think I'd be less worried if Erik had postedsince then, but Hafs just hadn't responded.  And if Chaz and Hafs didn't seem to be talking about Notaboy himself in the past tense.  (I didn't just say that out loud, did I?)

Found what I was remembering. (Eventually. I got sidetracked by yummy recipes.) Here is where Erik reenters Hafidha's life - beginning of February last year. So he was ditched for about six weeks - he was at the infamous concert in mid-December, but then Hafs had another date for New Year's Eve.

Well, that and the fact that Chaz and Erik were supposed to do parkour that day, but Chaz had to cancel.

I'm kind of resigned to the idea that the Notaboy exists in the past tense only by now (partly because I wasn't interested in him to start with).  I was wondering if Hafs' general reluctance to be out and about might have been because it was around this time last year that Erik achieved Notaboy status - basically an anniversary, but as Felicia1066 says, the dates don't match up.  But I think a more general, ongoing misery/depression might also be a possibility, as MadGastronomer suggested.  Hafs never posted much, but she seems to posts even less now.

On Erik-related topics, however: Daphs just called Chaz 'Parkour boy', with an implication that he's still doing Parkour post-Erik.  Another source of Platypus-Wabbit friendship tension there?  Especially if, as I think I wondered elsewhere, Erik went kersplat while practising his Parkour solo, and that's what resulted in the phone call of November 17?

~thinks~ Maybe I'm overthinking this.  Oh, well, work is boring today...
