Chaz' mood: calm.

My mood: not so much.

Indeed. Comments on that post disabled, too.

I think I'll not put the Irish Cream in the hot chocolate tonight, though; knowing our PTB, I suspect I should keep that in reserve for the episodes. Or... whatever.

Meep.

*laughs with the laughter of the far too involved*

Right.  Now that's over.

HIV tests can theoretically have turnaround times of minutes--but I'm not sure whether that's only the preliminary tests, or the double-check tests.  (Yeah, they have technical names, but I'm tired.)  I'm pretty sure that even with the second test, they can have the results a few days later.  Maybe.  If I'm not completely wrong.

So.  Theoretically, Chaz could know his HIV prognosis with absolute certainty right now.  And, looking at his livejournal...I'm going to take a guess and say that he does.

That said, I have no idea what his prognosis is.  Giving a main character HIV?  Seems like a pretty classic move for these writers.  But then again, so does making us all worry only to spring a completely different disaster on us.

So I think I'm just going to ignore my surprisingly complacent friend brain (it hasn't complained about anything since Chaz deleted his journal--the worst has happened and it survived, apparently) and ask my mother for a brush-up on HIV testing procedure tomorrow.

Oh, there's no doubt Chaz knows. He might even tell his coworkers tomorrow. Wondering whether he'll tell them where we can see him is going to keep me awake tonight.

I think he knows, and I am cautiously inclined to the theory that the news was good.  The smiley face next to 'Calm' didn't have to be there, after all.

But it's personal, and not for random-PDRs-talking-all-over, and at another level ECR-making, so that calm might be feeling a little fragile for not-bad reasons.  Hence comments off.

Of course, I'm quite prepared to find out that I'm completely wrong about this.  ~gnaws fingernails~

The smiley next to "calm" would have happened automatically when he chose that emotion.

I'd hesitate to jump to conclusions about any of this--it's possible that his trip to Maryland didn't even have to do with his last HIV test, although it does seem likely--but I think something Very Bad is brewing.  They've lost the ability to lure us into a false sense of security; I think now they might be distracting us by trying to make us guess what the disasters are, and which are the ones we should worry about.

But if he'd merely typed 'calm' into the 'Mood' box next to 'None, or other', it wouldn't have brought up the smiiley face or any other emoticon, and if he'd typed 'calm' next to a neutral or negative emoticon it would've posted that.  So I tend to read it as deliberately chosen.

Or by making us think that there are disasters upcoming when in fact there might not be.  Smiley

I note for the record, and purposes of discussion, that yesterday was a Sunday in the US.

Not only was yesterday Sunday in the US, but it was the Sunday following a Thursday holiday (Thanksgiving) and a Friday which many non-essential workers either have as a holiday or take as vacation. I'd guess that lab techs not directly supporting ER or ICU work count as "non-essential".

I'm personally assuming that Chaz's lab work would not have been done over the weekend, unless some serious bureaucratic pull was exercised.

Not that that's going to get me to budge off this FRTFO Bench any time soon...

Assuming, of course, that he was driving to Maryland for the blood draw, and not some other reason.

At least with the smileys I use, it makes no difference whatsoever.  If I type "calm" next to "none or other," the calm overrides, and I still end up with the calm smiley.  And if I type "calm" next to a directly conflicting emotion--"anxious"--calm still overrides, and I end up with the calm smiley and anxious not showing at all.

Anyway, I think it's probably reading too much into the smiley.  Basically, I don't think we have anything to go on at all.  Which means speculation is still possible, it's just hard to verify.

There are two ends to a testing process. *g*

Really?  It's never done that to me.  I guess that means that the only thing we can be sure of is: LJ is weird.
