Okay, we have awesome cooks, a massage master, a McGuyver brain trust, a yacht, rum... What else do we need before we declare our island an independent nation? The other three basic food groups: coffee, sugar and chocolate?

My boy may be willing to MacG hospital level care for me, but he is not living anywhere near me w/out THAT holy trinity, so we can assume he brings 'em. (He bakes, too.)

Sorry guys, but without my books, recorded music and something to play it on, piano, harp, guitar... oh and lifetime supply of various and sundry medications... there's no point in my showing up. *very wry*
Though I *do* make a rather scrumptious Chocolate Decadence, or so I've been told..

The cabana boys will load it all on the yacht. Really? Oooooh, count me in then! (And this means a fairly decent SF&F library, quite a bit of older stuff (Simak, Silverberg, Vance...) (about 2500 books) (plus another, what, thousand of mystery and cookbooks and non-genre stuff and and and...) (and some good vinyl, classical plus '70s stuff, Moody Blues, S&G, Joni Mitchell...) whee! Now all we'll need is a portal or something into L-space...

I'll bring a frying pan (to get out of the fire into) (or vice versa), experience with nets for acquiring fish and sea time so we can shift location at will. I also have horse experience, but it doesn't seem like a big deal on this island. Do art supplies count? Can I bring some?
(as for Doctors, there is no one for me but Tom)

I'm counting my entire yarn stash* as one item, so I'm sure art supplies won't be a problem.
*this is one of those Puget Sound islands, right? :-)

Well, Glinda's met me. As have Wendolyn and Dmitri (not that they're around much). So I may or may not be real to your standards, but I am at least a shared delusion.
Hey- I've been on plenty. Just waiting for more threads to reply in. It does no good for me to be sitting there talking to myself in a thread. Ok, on topic- Bringing in more art supplies. Mine are different, and besides, you can never have too many. And Art supplies definitely counts as a singular item, no matter how many tons it weighs or storage totes it occupies.

And it includes "craft supplies"... let's see... calligraphy candle-making crochet drawing/painting (I don't do much of either any more) glass painting jewelry making needlework sewing (oh, the treadle sewing machine also fits in this category, right?? stamping I *know* I do more than that, off and on... what have I forgotten? *wry*

Somehow, I don't think all y'all are entering into the spirit of the thought experiment.

Oh, I don't know about that. It's a dessert island; of course we're trying to sweeten the pot!
