The discussion where he asks her to bring it is in the ljs, actually. In code. *g* So it's not a scene break.

Just a hyperfictional compatibility issue.

Now that I remember, vaguely.

(Also, he's long off the narcotics by the time he goes home. Much to his dismay.)

Hey, just because he has them doesn't mean he's taking them. *g* Doesn't everybody hoard Percocet?

Um, no.

(Oh, damn. I do need to talk to that damned copyeditor (*cough*) about the dressings, as I'm pretty sure Chaz'd be free of open wounds by July. :-P Will, I thought we fired that guy!)

I'd tell you how long I had dressings on the 8 inch long down to the bone incisions on my arm, but I was taking my percocet and I don't remember.  Tongue

IIRC, I had the stiches out after a couple weeks, but kept a light dressing with antibiotic ointment for quite a while afterwards.

Stitches usually come out after ten-fourteen days, if I recall from my own misadventures. You don't want to leave them in too long, because they make the scar even more charming.

Of course, maybe I'm wrong about the Percocet. And the dressings. *g* But it has been ~5 weeks.

As a Federal law enforcement agent, Chaz is almost certainly [1] subject to random whiz quizzes. Having opiods in your bloodstream without an active prescription gets one in all sorts of trouble.

[1] I only say "almost" because my Google-fu isn't strong enough to find a specific cite online. But I can't imagine the FBI not doing random urinalysis.

Don't fire poor Duane. Pressure sores take for-ev-er and medicated dressings help even if it ain't open.

Trust the bedbound chick.

Yes, charming indeed

And I wasn't suggesting that you were wrong about the percocet, I was just being obnoxious. If anything, his behavior would suggest he would stop taking it as early as possible.

Or refuse it as soon as coherent enough. I kinda have to turn it down a lot, even w/it on chart as 'no'... control issues. Not suggesting you're off either, but warm fuzziness and not-in-charge can be worse than pain.

You elucidated what I meant far better than I did.  Grin

Although if Chaz suffered any nasty hallucinations (as seems to be common with oxycodone), those would be interesting for the PTB's to relate. Would a Gamma suffering a hallucination make it real?

So I mentioned that the scene between Chaz and Daphne, when he asks her to give him his gun, got left on the cutting room floor of my brain. So, also, did the reasonably detailed description of what he's taking home, and my word choice for what I did describe was careless. Shame, shame on author! I don't want to get Duane busted for this.

See, I thought the stuff you use to treat scarring would be referred to/thought of as wound dressing. Ointment, the weird blue chillable silicon strips (3M strikes again!) you lay over the scars, the wrapping you use to keep them on overnight. You guys probably remember Chaz talking about scarring prevention in his LJ. Now I'm going to have to find out what medical professionals call those supplies.

Anyway, this got me thinking: I could do a rewrite. And we could post the two versions side by side for you to look at, to see just how fiddly we can get. Would you guys be interested in that?
