I think Hafs has fallen into the trap of believing in her own mythology(!), thinking herself omnicient and therefore personally responsible for everything that has gone wrong for the team. This has pushed to the extreme of doing "anything to protect the team". Thus, the shooting of the gamma who was (possibly) surrendering and running away so they wouldn't be able to stop her from continuing to 'protect' them.
I think a superiority complex is in there for certain, along with paranoia and decreased grasp of reality...

That's reasonably consistent with my argument she's manifesting hypervigilism as a symptom of PTSD. (And having proposed that for Hafs, I now find myself writing a character who really is manifesting it. Oh well, I guess I get to kill two birds with one stone with the research)

I cannot see the words OTHAR TRYGGVASSEN Gentleman Adventurer! without hearing them in Cheyenne's Othar voice. Anyone who has any idea what I'm talking about but hasn't heard Cheyenne's Othar voice (and hey, ever notice that Othar is just one letter away from Other?) should go listen to the podcasts as soon as possible, because OMG, excellent Othar voice. But I'm glad to see so many people got the reference.

OMG, she's become OTHAR TRYGGVASSEN Gentleman Adventurer! Thank you. Thank you so much. I wondered what the heck you were talking about, ran a search, and then spent the next two and a half hours reading webcomics instead of doing any of my work. Then I followed a link to this tv tropes website, where I spent approximately the next ten hours, and got absolutely nothing done yesterday. Grumble grumble gripe groan complain.

I resist! I resist! Mostly because I spent the whole day in the SUniverse, reading up on stuff I hadn't gotten to yet, which I can't resist...

Mwahahahahaha!
I am supporting local artists, you know. The Foglios live in Seattle. I've even played poker at their house a time or two.

Given that one of the first animated LJ usericons I ever did was of Agatha Heterodyne, Penelope Garcia and Hafidha Gates, I should durn well hope I got the reference! (Hmm. Othar's been out of the GG storyline for quite a while, now. Maybe he's off with Hafidha someplace?)
