(Hmm. Othar's been out of the GG storyline for quite a while, now. Maybe he's off with Hafidha someplace?)

Maybe a gamma spark got him....

Well, Agatha was green there for a little while.

(Yes, yes, I know. Wrong gamma. But you try reading Marvel Comics for nigh on 30 years and not thinking green when the word "gamma" is mentioned.)

Next year you can cater a room party. The year after that, you can cater the banquet. MWAhaha!

I would so chip in for that.

I seem to have not replied to this the first time.
I can't cater a banquet in a hotel at a con, the contracts always include a clause saying that the hotel caters all official events. Even doing something serious for a room party is iffy, depending on the clause and the hotel. (I've checked.) I do want to do a Steampunk Night at the Kitchen next year for SteamCon, though. (I've got a Steampunk Menu file tucked away somewhere.)
If ShadowCon ever happens, there will have to be some careful planning, though.

Are there rules about having banquets offsite?

They can't be officially part of the con, but they can advertise at the con. But I do not do event planning, just food, so someone would have to step up and find me a venue, tables, chairs, tableware, etc.

*volunteers her condo* No, wait, that's too small....
*volunteers her brother's house* No, wait, that might be too small as well....
Hrmm.....
Perhaps Cascade People's Center in South Lake Union area (of Seattle) would be willing to be the location of a banquet? I've taught classes for Seattle Free School a lot there. Or maybe the Armory? Hrmmm.....

A Steampunk night at Night Kitchen would be fantastic! Cheesy

Hmm. I happen to have a hotel at which I am pretty darned sure we could negotiate something for a room party (I know that for a fact, since I negotiated the contract last year) and we might even be able to do something for a banquet, though probably not a full one. They do collaborate with outside caterers, though; it was something we specifically talked about at our initial meeting, though we did not end up using it.   (I'll ask Chef Chris what the specific possibilities might be when I see him at the cookie-decorating party in a few weeks.)

No guarantees, but I just want to datapoint that there may be a loophole for collaboration, at least with one venue.

Nice venue, too.   *whistles innocently*   Anybody decides that there ought to be a ShadowCon, they might want to ask me to check out its availability.

Hmmmm...

Oh yes, think hard! I do believe I know which hotel she's talking about, and it's really quite nice.
