The oft cited origin of the word on alt.tasteless (or sometimes one of the bdsm related groups) is highly unlikely to be correct - it was in parlance in geek circles at least by early 1993, and probably earlier than that... and in circles with a lot of representation on usenet forums back in the day. Which makes me rather suspect back formation. However I can't rule out that the given origin story is essentially correct, but just happened at an earlier time and place. It seems a little dubious to me in terms of tone, but not inconceivable. |

I dunno. Maybe I just spend too much time with little kids and/or reading kid's books, but it sounds to me like one of those rhyming-not-quite-words that kids and kid's authors come up with all the time. It's just too perfect in terms of sound and tone for it not to refer to playing with icky squishy squicky mud-pies/boogers/etc. |

Anyway, back to the WTF therapist concept. Sol might find himself in the role of smart, stubborn therapist to the team. My personal thought, though, is that - if the PTB actually go that route - the likely candidates are either Kay Baylor (who already demonstrated her skill with Danny) or the Mysterious Doctor Allison (about whom we know nothing save the name).

Duke has quite a head start though, given he's already gotten past most of the team's defences, and has a good handle on how each of them think/avoid unwanted topics. I think one of the others might be the official team therapist, should there be one, but they'll have to lean on Duke pretty hard most likely. Whether they know/realise this or not. |

Mm. If Dr. Allison is someone they deal with professional in the context of Idlewood it might be better not. Though there is something to be said for keepin the people who know anything about this all small if they're trying to stay covert. Not sure about Baylor - I mean, if she had an established therapeutic relationship with Brady it would be one thing, but it sounded a little more short lived. |

If she had an established therapeutic relationship with Brady, I would expect her to have a conflict-of-interest in treating other members of the team, however, IANAT. |
