Scarfed the ep yesterday at work and just getting around to reviewing the discussion. PTB how do I love thee? So happy to have new stuff and the promise of new stuff for months and months!

I'd echo most of what's been said here especially about the awesome handling of the Chaz-shaped hole (made easier to take by us readers knowing what we know if we've been keeping up on LJs). And Sol POV rocks. And Daphne. And really all the little inter-team connections this episode highlighted in sparkly technicolor.

Too swoony to squee.

Now to reread for details.

the revelations of how much Hafida can do now without hardware is scary-cool. Interesting to see where she ends up.
Oh, yeah.  Phones now?  That hasn't been hinted at on the LJs anywhere that I can remember...

My first thought, actually, was that Hafs could do Bluetooth as well as WiFi. Although, if she can do WiFi, I suppose VoIP isn't out of the question. We do know, from Chaz's and Hafs' trip to Hawai'i, that she can supply connectivity to an iPhone.

The real question, of course, is whether HafidhaNet supports RFC 1149 networking (or the updated version, RFC 2549, which includes Quality of Service specifications).

Evidently the technical stuff goes even further over my head than I realised - I never got any of the Bluetooth/iPhone stuff.  Actually, I'm still not entirely sure what Bluetooth is (no explanations please!)...

Definitely fair play, then.

She'd just laugh. Those protocols are bird-brained, after all.

I didn't click through or recognize those as the April RFCs until this post. I don't think Hafidha is quite flighty enough to support those.

ETA correct spelling

I really enjoyed this episode. It is interesting to read a story set where you live. I really enjoyed the NM descriptions and dialog.

One nitpick... There is a certified trauma center in El Paso TX which is only 45 miles away from Las Cruces.

Darn--I keep forgetting Texas is right next door to New Mexico. Maybe because I talk to so many New Mexicans who wish they could...  Grin

(Every U.S. state makes fun of the state next door. In Minnesota, it's Iowa. In Arizona, it's California. I bet there's some poor state that's the last in line. Maybe North Dakota. Even Manitoba picks on North Dakota.)

I think it's Oklahoma, actually.

Mississippi and West Virginia are both pretty well looked-down-upon.

I lived in North Dakota for 2 years. You're right, they are pretty much on the bottom rung.

All the North Dakotans I know make fun of South Dakota; and many also scorn Montana.  And Minnesota drivers, but only the drivers and not the state.

That's just jealousy, because those states have trees and terrain features.
