Good deal. Linking to my googlepages website pic worked. It did squeeze the aspect ratio down to square, so my avatar has been on a rather strict diet*. but, hey, it's good enough for show business. Thanks for the help, all. * What? No goat kids?  |

Direct upload didn't work for me, either. Sure would be nice though, if SMF would actually *say* something like "it didn't work", or maybe even a hint about what was wrong.

Also, if you want to use an avatar larger than LJ size, it will simply shrink it down to size automatically (mine was originally 150x150) though as noted above it must be square to avoid being squished either vertically or horizontally.

Has anyone else had trouble uploading a file for a user pic to their profile? So click the radio button, browse for the file (in Firefox) and hit "Change Profile", and the file path disappears from the text box next to the "Browse" button, and nothing else changes. Bad juju on my part?  Me too, only I can see your profile pic now. |

I tryed both behaviers in Safari and Firefox.
Is this a "hate Mac's" thing.
How does one have the board see ones Avatar at Live Journal?
I am at a loss as how to let the board know where to "look".

You have to copy the URL at which the image is located and paste it into the indicated space.

Cass, right-click or control-click on the icon you want. There ought to be an option like "copy image URL." Choose that and paste it into the field for the URL.

Being new to LJ and dealing with the whole message board thing. Is there a way to pull up just the new post that have found their way onto the board without going through all the post?
I marked all the post as being read but that did not seem to help.
When I look at who's on line it shows that people are looking at new posts.

At the top of the forum board pages, there is link to "Show unread posts since last visit."
Also, at the bottom of main page there is a link that will show all the most recent posts.
