Huh, I didn't notice the DoB at the start.

But I did twig to it being Brady after the first couple of responses from him. If only because it was too obvious* about not-quite-implying that it was Chaz.

Poor Danny. He's hurting himself so much.

(*) If this was anyone other than the WTF, I doubt I'd have been so automatically contrary.

My fandom has a suspicious mind.

So I start reading, going "Oh, here's Chaz's therapy we were all wondering about!"  And I read a little, and wonder when this extra is taking place, and see that Chaz has a birthday soon and then I say hey wait, Chaz was born a year before me, not 1971, and I'm about to come here and ask...

And then it hits me.

Oh, Brady.

Yeah, I saw the DOB and figured it was Brady.  And then figured that crap, this one was going to be depressing.  Which it was.

I've been sitting here for about three minutes trying to figure out something else to say, but...I think I need to digest this one.

Waaaah!

That Dr. Baylor sounds like one sharp cookie, though. Wonder how long it'll be before she ends up talking with the rest of the team. (Everybody except maybe Mom is pretty clearly walking wounded in one form or another.)

Mom is too. She just hides it better.

That's what Moms do. It's what makes them Moms.

Geeezzzzz... I want to label what Brady is going through survivor's guilt, but it's not.  It's more... well it's the sort of reaction you see among military members (especially direct leadership) who have had someone in their unit hurt badly.  You couldn't do a damn thing about it when it happened, you can't do a damn thing to help them heal, you can't coddle them but you don't want to be too 'tough love', you feel like it's your fault for not stopping it in the first place and the culture you work in makes it pretty much impossible to talk to them frankly about all of that...

It's just about the worst kind of helpless you can be and we've already learned that Brady doesn't *do* helpless very well.  No wonder he's having issues.   Cry

Oh.... wow.  I knew I loved Brady (and Chaz, and Sol, and Worth, and Hafs, but Brady has a special corner of my heart...), but this just made me sniffle.  Gods, of all the things to feel, helpless is the worst.  And he *knows* he shouldn't feel helpless, but still....

Ye gods.   Embarrassed  Well, now we know why Chaz hasn't seen him yet.  And dammit, Danny, you *have* to talk to him.  Please!

(Can I admit to a momentary snicker at the description of Reyes? *giggles some more*)

*sniffs*  It's just my allergies, really!

Aww. You guys are so fickle.

Poor Tasha drags her butt in there, issues and all, and makes Chaz laugh--and she gets The Wall of Disapproval.

Meanwhile, Danny gets sympathy and Poor Danny because he can't swallow his pride and go do what everybody else on the team is doing.

Life is not fair.

Eh. We know Danny. We'd previously seen Tasha only through Chaz's filters.

Hey, I approved of Tasha!  I liked her muchly.  Besides, I didn't come out of her extra feeling sadness because she made me smile too Smiley

I think I just feel more sadness for Danny both because (as sleary said) we know him more, and also because I've been in his position before, where the issues are keeping you from doing what you know you should, and you've got the issues and the guilt of being overcome by issues, and the knowledge that the longer this goes on, the more of yet another issue you're going to have because now if you do reach out, you're going to have to explain what took you so long.  So I guess I empathize more there.

I like Tasha too. I'm all in favor of relationships where people have sane conversations. Given the world this is set it, that's an admirable trait. And as was previously mentioned, for someone with reason enough to be able to claim "I didn't sign up for this" (see: Amaryllis) , she's doing fairly well.

Tasha and Brady provide a good contrast on the value of showing up.

Tasha shows up even though she's 'just' a friend now, and she's honest, and her slight tactlessness is refreshing and oddly comforting to Chaz.

Brady does not show up. He has issues. Everyone he works with has issues. With what he's been through, he has every right to have issues all the way back to cave paintings. But personally, while I feel for the guy, and I certainly understand why he doesn't want to see Chaz like that, he's still committing the sin of not showing up, and Chaz does not need silence to read into.

One of my friends described it as the ministry of Presence. Be there. Even if that's all you can do.

(also, doesn't 'tied down like a dog and carved up' sounds an awful lot like what Andre did to his victim? There's got to be an additional layer of survivor's guilt and flashback in that.)

Can I just say that I completely agree with everything you said and add a bit of a 'Hell yeah!' and a dash of 'Ut oh'?  Because you're right, that description does rather sound familiar and man suddenly I'm so incredibly glad that Brady didn't bust in there while said craving was going on.  He SO didn't need to see that and there's no way he and Chaz would be able to work together without some big underlying issues that poor Chaz wouldn't even fully understand.  (IE: Brady seeing him as a victim who needs to be saved, even when he knows better.) As it is I'm hoping (*Gives Brady the Hairy Eyeball of Impending Doom*) that Brady talks to Chaz about why he didn't visit, or at least talks to Nikki, who will talk to Chaz.

I say Poor Brady, because he *does* deserve sympathy for the punishment he's putting himself through, but yeah; he also deserves a swift kick in the rear for not pasting on a pair and tagging along with one of the girls when they went to visit.

Yeah.  All that.

Want to hug Brady, now, but that wouldn't work.  So want to sit there with him in wordless silence for a fair bit and then admit that "Yeah, that sucks."

Then maybe take him to the firing range to practice with a Really Loud Gun, or off to the batting cage to break a bat or two hitting things out of the park, or something subtle like that.

Sigh.

Funny, here I was thinking that Jim's take on it would probably be precisely what the Cowboy needs.  Shocked

Also: Clue is great, and has so many wonderfully recognisable lines, although the Communism one is still the best, IMO.  Grin
