She didn't pull the plug on him. That's a good sign. Isn't it?
Txanne? You can stop with the "Lalalalala" thing. I think. Maybe.

Based on the origami, I think Frost was thinking more of her mother than her father. I felt that leaving the origami for Chaz may have been a reminder for him that he is not unique in the "crazy parents traumatizing their children" situation. Little does she know...

I made a couple of new friends this weekend, to whom I will have to introduce Flash Girls, because at the show we were at, the two singers were up there "lalalalala"ing their way through soundtrack, and I know they know that song, so now the new friends I made while at the show must know that song.

There's a soprano on Steve's CD. Is that you?

I think there was more than one soprano in those sessions, so I'm not sure. I'd have to rummage up the CD to see which ones I was on, and whether I was distinguishable in the whole "War is bad! Peace is good!" thing... Kum ba ya, baby.

Yes, she had nothing to say about the death of her father, and likely that was 'unpleasant' as well. For that matter, the "one of us" thought may refer not just to the fact that they both came from crazy parents who traumatized their children, but from crazy parents who abused Mom, and were then killed by their kid. ("Hi, my name is Chaz, and I'm a patricidal survivor of an abusive parent." "Hi Chaz!") I dunno. I think Frost is uninterested in connecting to other people, but there's still a hard comfort in the lesson of "You can live through this."

She's a scientist. Scientists communicate useful facts. "You can live through this" is arguably a useful fact. The transmission of information does not require an emotional connection.

*snrch* (Actually, I'm a soprano. No, really. I'll show you some time.) Ah, but what about in the alto-native universe of Shadow Unit? (Me? I'm a bass. Keeps me out of treble.)

I personally suspect that deep down she is interested in connecting with other people. However, considering how much trauma she went through growing up, keeping others as separate as possible became a key coping strategy for her, and she doesn't know how to connect while keeping herself safe. Shame we don't have some high-powered profilers around to expound upon the significance of those particular choices for origami ...
