Because it needs to be typed on screen!
They did it! An honest-to-pete full season of entertainment, complete with a pilot, a season-ender, and revelations throughout!
A terrific 5 dimensional cast of characters worthy of their own fandom!
A ludicrous amount of extra content delivered regularly, including original art and a theme song!
Scarily convincing Livejournals for our favorite characters!
And they even created one of the finest message boards on the 'Net, and kept a contant presence there!
Have there ever been creators who have done so much for their fandom? I think not!
So raise your mouses for Emma Bull, Elizabeth Bear, Will Shetterly, Amanda Downum, and Sarah Monette! Three Rousing Cheers!

Hooray!
It was an awesome season - we know enough to have some clue of how the anomaly works (or think we do), we're connected with the characters, and there's enough mystery to keep us discussing mechanics. And a bit of suspense in seeing how Chaz will fare in the weeks to come.

"On belay?" Oh my FSM, how long have you been setting up that moment? Showstopping. The Emmy clip. I spent the past four days at the Electronic Literature Conference, telling everyone I could about SU. I hope I got the academics intrigued. Before returning home today, I took a field trip to Moffat's World-Spanning Library Powell's Books in Portland, which should be in the running for the Ideal Spot On The Planet competition. I took some photos that y'all might get a kick out: Any holes on the shelves are because I purchased the books that had been there.
