*Growls and flails*   Angry There was not ONE Brust book at the only bookstore in my town!  Not one!  And they had sold out of the Sherrilyn Kenyon book I was eagerly awaiting too.

I'd call that a hint that you need to move, myself.  Wink

I finally had to special order that one (Bear AND Sarah Monette?  Are you kidding?!  No WAY I could wait!) and of course the week after I picked it up I found it on their shelves.   Angry

Alas, if only my dear Uncle Sam felt the same...  Well what can you do?  This place is about a hundred times better than the last place I lived and it's within a decent driving distance of the fam and DragonCon so...  Can't complain too much right? Fortunately I stopped at a bookstore on the way back into town after a belly dance event and found Sherrilyn's book so I am once again a happy woman... at least until I'm finished reading it anyway!

I kind of suspect my (evil/good) twin was a specific person - for several years while I was living in Seattle, I kept running into people who swore they knew me and that I was named Elizabeth.

Hmm. Secret power...

About 75% of all PIs will encourage me to join their labs within fifteen minutes of meeting me. Despite my really weird background. For quite some time I thought that this was just small talk for PIs: "Hello, nice to meet you. What do you do? Would you like to join my lab?"

Oh! And a disturbingly high number of people, once they've known me for a bit, will inform me that I am not human. Since I was a kid. (It's silly. I may be a little unusual, but no one yet has come up with a good explanation for how this means "not human".)

Clearly, they mean to indicate that you are, in fact, superhuman.

Mm... sometimes I rather suspect that that is indeed what they mean (annoyingly). And sometimes I suspect that's not what they mean (also annoyingly).

Perhaps the problem is that I get annoyed too easily.

"I wanted to tell you both. I've met someone."

"Danny, that's good," his mother said, sounding strange and strained and cautious. "What's--"

"His name's Grayson. He works for the State Department."

I was reminded today. My superpower is making it rain by going grocery shopping. I can't break a hard drought, but if there are only 5 drops of rain that fall in a day, they will manage to fall when I am carrying in the groceries.
