...and you could almost hear the director thinking, in a paraphrase of Shylock, "O my actress! O my budget!"

That, and Aguilera and Collier breaking into "Singing in the Rain" complete with raincoats, tap dance routine, and dramatic stage kiss in the unused version of the climax of "A Handful of Dust" that had Chaz in it instead of Lau.

But that wasn't, you know, an actual blooper.

You can tell they shot that one right after everybody got back from the strike.

And I wish they could have put the strike-support YouTube videos on the DVD. Especially the one with Aguilera and Cartwright in scary hollow-cheeked makeup explaining that the Companies had to come back to the table and offer the writers a decent deal, because during the strike there was no one to write any SU eating scenes and their characters were starving to death.

You ever think the actors must be on a permanent diet between takes? Because man, if it were me, I could not even look at food when I got home.

Aguilera really can nearly unhinge his jaw, though. The accordion-fold on that éclair was beyond belief. I wonder if they made him do that in the screen tests.
