... the Unreal gaming engine, that is.

Quote
The Unreal computer games engine is being licensed to the FBI and other US government agencies.

The software - which powers titles including Batman: Arkham City, Mass Effect 3 and Infinity Blade - will be used for training programmes.

Developer Epic Games and its partner Virtual Heroes described the deal as a "long-term" agreement to support the technology on web browsers, consoles and handheld devices.

We know that Chaz, Hafidha, Nikki and Danny all play computer games (as did Daphne. ::sniff:: ) Sol, being Sol, might not play but probably knows improbable truths about the original developers. I'm curious, though, as to how much Esther and Reyes know about gaming...

Esther has teenagers, and a husband. I'm sure she's had a video game system in the house, even if only briefly. And I think there was a comment somewhere indicating that she was at least aware of World of Warcraft as a computer game that people play online.

Reyes ... hm. On the one hand, people who like comic book super heroes tend to like games in which they can play super heroes. On the other hand, I can easily see Reyes having some kind of objection to gaming on ill-defined General Principles.

I can see him playing an unsubtle flying brick character who smashes bad guys and doesn't worry too much about procedure and legal niceties.

On the other hand, fighting evil badguys with superpowers might seem too much like his day job.

"Danny, that's good," his mother said, sounding strange and strained and cautious. "What's--"

"His name's Grayson. He works for the State Department."
