I haven't heard from deltas as such, but last I heard from my sister (newly moved to Vermont) she was doing well and hadn't even lost power. (Something about practicing juggling because of the flooding, though... but then she's in circus school.)

ETA: Oh! Ed checked in!

Hey Tylik! I took classes at the school your sister's at, as did my daughters and my husband. They are some wonderful people.

In Western Mass we had a lot of rain and 40 knots of wind - electricity stayed except for a couple short blips. It cleared off around 3:00 pm, and is blowing hard from the west. Small rivers are very high, the Connecticut River is high but still well within its banks. We are fine, waiting to see what river levels will be as the watershed drains out some.

I'm in eastern Massachusetts, and experienced plenty of wind and rain. Electricity hiccuped a couple of times but never was out for more than a minute of so. The only noticeable problem is a whole lot of pine needles on my car.

So glad to hear that!

(Though not really surprised - L was just blown away when she went to visit them last year, and they were highly recommended by her teacher / mentor / employer.)

Also not dead. Smiley Sorry it took me a while to get back here, the last couple weeks have been intensely busy for me.

Not dead.

Thank you.  Please continue this practice.

As for me, rather than a daring day-trip, culminating in a return home to huddle in my condocave while the fierce winds howled outside, I spent time in a lovely Massachusetts hospital, slept a lot, and got healed and sent back out to splendid weather.

Far less dramatic than I wanted, but I'm willing to forgo any further drama once a hospital is involved.

Good grief! On the one hand, I'm glad there was a hospital available; on the other, I'm sorry it was necessary!

That pretty much sums up my view as well.

They make a very good chicken soup, there, though.

As they darn well should. It's stocked in the pharmacy, isn't it? *g*

This was homemade.  And delicious enough for me to have despite intense nausea.

The scrambled eggs, though, were powdered.  Thus socialist medicine is truly exposed as evil.

The hospital might have been having supply-chain issues, what with tropical downpours and all.

Or they might just have been trying to subtly encourage you in getting well enough to leave. Nurses are almost as tricksy as our beloved PTB in that manner.

That's it: once you're well enough to care about the food, you're outta there. Doctors have certain methods for evaluating recovery, and nurses have their own!

(I'm never allowed to eat for the first little (or long) while when I'm in for illness, but when I had my babies-- yeah; hospitals really should not do fish.)

Maine Medical in Portland does most excellent fish.  They also have a secret source of strawberries in winter.

(Can I get my medical costs subsidized if I write a restaurant review column featuring various hospitals?  Hmmm..)
