The episode itself filled me to the brim with compassion for the agony Frost keeps herself in, and now it's changed a bit. Not lessened, really, but the water in the pool has turned out rather murkier than I first realised, so to speak.

People are complicated. 'Twas ever so.

her fingers tingling with the feel and smell of metal buckles and her head exploding with transformation.

Oh. I missed "and her head exploding with transformation". Transformation into what??

That's the question, isn't it. I had to go check on earliest record gamma activity after that, and it is years after Clemson McClain's first activity, soooo....

Indeed. (However, she's not described as being overly slim, or needing a few thousand calories a day... is there a pre-Beta thing, I wonder?)

Just spent 15 minutes searching for the BotMo thread identifying various things (http://botmo.livejournal.com/93094.html), to dig out the name of that large gorgeous flat bead with inclusions that look like crystals of frost on a winter window; it's sagenitic agate. (I know exactly where the *bead* is, it's the name that was eluding me.) And I may have to be making something with it, now. Not sure what or how, yet.

It seems to need to be tightly caged in the wire, and very unlike the swoopy curves I usually make. Very angular and spiky. May have to practice with something else, something smaller, first...

There was an online chat last night with CM writer Breen Frazier and someone asked about Trans characters:

Quote
devoncarrots: Breen do you think that we'll ever see an episode that has a Trans* character?

BF: TG? No. If you remember, there was some outcry about that WRT Silence of the Lambs. I don't think we'll do a TG UnSub, because I don't want to misrepresent the TG cause. If you pursue that, your issues don't overlap with the paraphilia of most UnSubs.

CM's a different show from our show. Our unsubs aren't their unsubs. Interesting viewpoint, though.

There's a lot of good stuff in the interview (linked above). Surprisingly frank discussion about what CBS lets them do.

There is definitely something, ahem, anomalous about the description of what's going on in Frost's head as she kills her father: 'exploding with transformation' and 'this is too good. This is too bright'. And then again later, while she's talking to Reyes at the climax of the siege 'that still place, that quiet place in her head emerged'. The PTB like to mess with our heads, but so often it turns out years down the track that there is a real purpose to it, and that means you have to wonder whether someone has messed with Frost's head as well as with ours.
