Footageheads = Deltas?

I'm just embarking on my pretty much annual re-read of Gibson's Pattern Recognition, and it suddenly struck me that there are real overlaps between Gibson's footageheads and us as deltas.

I won't explain exactly what the footage really is, nor where it comes from, that would spoil Gibson's book for those who haven't read it, but suffice it to say it's a set of mysterious film clips slipped onto the web from a mysterious source, with a narrative that remains extremely unclear, and that the protagonist, Cayce, is one of the footageheads, the people who follow and discuss the new clips on a website much like this one. Based on the two we meet, the footageheads are bright, articulate people well able to analyse and dissect their topic in extreme detail, and with the odd unexpected talent thrown in. Sound familiar?

Equally there's that whole mysterious PTB thing and what do they really want with our minds?

Anyone have a stetson-wearing Belgian billionaire to hand willing to fund an extended investigation into what the SU footage really means?
