According to Amazon, #8 isn't available yet, though for some reason, it looks like #9 is. Maybe they don't all roll out at the same time. I'll check back on that after I figure out what Smashwords doesn't like about #10.

Haven't solved the Smashwords issue, but I have an update on Shadow Unit 8: "Your book is currently under review by the Kindle Operations team as we are trying to improve the Kindle customer experience. The Kindle Store requires approximately 24 hours for English and 2-3 business days for other languages to make your content available for purchase. This will not affect any titles you are currently selling in the store, but uploading updates to existing titles will take longer to process."

I suspect their system was thrown by the number of books uploaded with similar titles.

More in a bit.

And Amazon now says Shadow Unit 8 is "publishing", so it really should be available within 24 hrs.

Still beating my head in trying to figure out why Smashwords doesn't like Shadow Unit 10. My head or Smashwords will win eventually.

All ten ebooks are live on Amazon! (And still on Barnes and Noble, of course.)

Experimenting with Volume 10 for Smashwords continues.

Stargate Atlantis books, a zombie novel with super heroes, a two volume collection of a childrens' series by Shirley Rousseau Murphy that I'd been hunting for, etc...

Wiktory! #10 is, indeed, up at Smashwords! However, if you just bought it, check to make sure you have the most recent version. I posted a version without an active table of contents as part of my trouble-shooting, then loaded a revised version very recently that has proper navigation.

ETA: According to Smashwords, no one bought the first version, which was only available briefly, so if your copy seems to be okay, excellent, and if not, let me know.

Well, it was nearly $100 worth of books, so I've now got reading for quite a while (and a lot more of it than I would get for the same amount at the bookstore)

Ooh, good! Been away so I've only just seen this.

A quick check confirms all 10 up at Amazon UK: http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=node%3D341689031&field-keywords=shadow+unit&x=0&y=0

(Amusingly the search also turns up a book on an actual police special unit!)

I've been away from the forum for a while.  I came by to see if Shadow Unit was available in book form yet.  I was, and am, a fan of real paper books... But even and old dog like me can learn new tricks, especially when he gets an e-reader for his birthday.  I had been hoping to carry a dead tree around with a season's worth of story, but I see the e-books are available now, so in a little while I'll have all the stories with me whenever I want them.  I bought the first e-book already, and expect to get another every week or three until I catch up with the current story.  It will be fun to re-read them from the beginning.

I mostly wanted to say thank you to the writers and others who have given us these stories, and made them more easier to be a-read'un for us old foggies who are learning to like this new-fangled digital media, delivered wirelessly.  I remember when I was young, if'n ya wanted to read a book ya had to walk to the library, uphill both ways, and now, just click a few buttons and the book is in your hand and ready to read.

All silliness aside, I really do appreciate the stories and the hard work that goes in to making them available to us.  So... Thank you.

We are still planning on tree books, at least of the first season to see how it goes, but I'm sorry to say that won't happen soon—maybe in spring. Next Shadow Unit project will be the 11th (!) ebook, which will be next week, if the spirits are kind.

Given the rising popularity of e-books, even among those of us who have seen more winters than most, and considering the genesis of this project, e-books are a very good fit.  Of course, once one of the networks or movie options this as a tv series or movie franchise, there will be a market for hard-cover illustrated volumes.

Until then, I am enjoying the shiny digital format.

Here's hoping we see this on the screen, as long as it isn't on Fox, 'cause they would make a few great episodes, play them in the wrong order, and then cancel the show mid-season.  Not that I'm bitter or anything.

Thanks again,

It's gotta be better than the SyFy version, before the deal fell through (or maybe was pushed...)

I mean, Wanda Sykes as Hafs?  And that whole is-he-or-isn't-he-an-angel thing they'd planned for Chaz?  *shudders*

Yeah. And sure, Kevin Sorbo needs work, but there's no way on earth I could buy him as Danny Brady.

Getting Saul Rubinek for Todd seemed like a coup to whoever the dealmaker was -- I forget the names now -- but no. Just no. (I like the actor. But he couldn't play Sol.)
