I woke up this morning with a very general question niggling at my brain:

I wonder if SU's powers that be are ever surprised by their characters?

That is to say, I know that TBTB have had a plan from the beginning and many story arcs and character traits were planned way in advance. But has anything about the characters taken them by surprise? Little things, like personality traits, hobbies or relationships that developed more quickly or with more depth than expected?

(This thought is probably partially inspired by the recent bpal chat which allowed me to learn some interesting things about processes and planning. I like the behind-the-scenes and thought maybe we should have a centralized place for it.)

Any connection between American art and American nature is purely coincidental, but this is only because the nation as a whole has no contact with reality.

Well, none of us had any clue what Nikki was up to until she kissed Chaz, I tell you what. *g* And I don't think any of us expected Chaz's relationship with Daphne, or how important it became.

Brady dumping Gray, also a total surprise.

Ha! This is exactly what I was looking for, thank you. I think it's fascinating the ways in which the creative mind even surprises itself sometimes.

(Also, I love that Nikki was keeping secrets from you.)

Oh, that's awesome! Except for Brady being a schmuck, but it's still awesome that he surprised you, even if it was in a "being an idiot" kind of way. Were you surprised that Gray took him back? As a reader, I was, though totally glad he did.

Wow, writing that Nikki and Chaz scene has to have been weird!
