Please welcome the first of our two new awesome moderators: total stranger from out of the crowd, Edmund the Moderator! *coughEdmundSchweppecough*

Yep, Ed now wears two hats on the board. There's his mild-mannered regular self, commenter and fearsome punster extraordinaire. And there's his superhero moderator self. I hope you guys will all help him maintain this community as a fun, smart, thoughtful, and kindly place for Shadow Unit readers and guests to hang out in.

Expect a second new-moderator announcement tomorrow!

Seriously, I'm really psyched that I can help free up more of our PTB's time and energy for doing useful things. Like, say, creating MOAR CONTENT.

After all, what could possibly go wrong with giving a former submariner the power to torpedo trolls in mid-trolling?

(The news crawl reads "Breathe in. Breathe out. Move on.". Quite appropriate, wot? Not that I'm nervous or anything ...)

Er, NO. The most powerful torpedo known to man was the Mk 45 ASTOR, with a nuclear warhead (11 kiloton yield according to Wikipedia). 

Even for spammers, that's too much. Especially as the guidance wires weren't long enough to make sure the submarine firing the damn thing was out of the blast radius.

They built a kamikaze torpedo? Oh, no, that's just too facepalm. Submarines cost way too much for that.

IIRC the Japanese had actual, piloted kamikaze torpedoes in WW2.

Most powerful in blast, perhaps, but the weapons system engineer in me has a fondness for the 1 ton warhead of the experimental Rolls Royce Merlin powered Helmover 36" torpedo, the air-dropped version had a range of 50 miles at 40 knots, the ship-launched version would have pushed that up to 150 miles (radio controlled by spotter aircraft).
