Also, what a purely perfect title. Did you write it with that title in mind?

BWAH-hah-hah-hah!

During planning sessions for the new anthology, I pointed out that one of the newcomers to B-town really has to start a restaurant. Called...

After all, thirteen years of evolving culture in the World produces a whole new set of funny restaurant names, the bumptious heirs of Taco Hell and the Hard Luck Cafe.

(Oh, for those who haven't got their copy yet, MG and I are talking about my story in the brand! new! anthology, Welcome to Bordertown. http://www.amazon.com/Welcome-Bordertown-Holly-Black/dp/0375867058/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1306359826&sr=1-1)

It was a moral imperative. Absolutely. Cheesy

Hell, if I were good at ribs, I'd probably have to start a place with that name myself.

Oh, and I just <I>loved</I> that you brought that artist back.

Sorry, miminnehaha, I thought you meant you'd read the story and missed the reference. It does go by fairly quickly.

His shirt.

That would be the point in the story where I laughed so hard the cat fell off the arm of the recliner and gave me Teh Glare Of Doom.

Aw, I just got Quizzical Looks from three cats, a dog, and a girlfriend. (The girlfriend was mightily amused. Her copy just arrived today. She's excited.)

If I can pull myself together enough from crashiness to get showered and out the door (overdid, starting last Wednesday, continuing through Tuesday, am now paying for it but it was worth it), my copy is waiting at Eagle Harbor Books. (Cancelled my Amazon order, searched the Indie books site, and that one's less than a mile away... Smiley ) (This might take more caffeine than usual... *wanders off to start some coffee*)

Did you cancel to support your local bookseller? (if so: approval!) Or was there a problem? Because mine is NOT arriving from Amazon tomorrow.  But the nearest bookstore that has it in stock is many, many gallons of gas away.  Hours of travel at freeway speeds.  <sigh>  If Amazon is having trouble supplying it, I don't know that the bookstore will have better luck: they order most "special orders" through Amazon, ironically enough.  I'll ask.

Mostly that, though it does end up costing more.

Oh, aargh. That's not fun. Many things here are a ferry ride away, which, now that the rates for tourist season are in place, is $26.80 round-trip, at the senior/disabled discount.

I'd pre-ordered from Amazon a while back. So, yesterday, I checked my Amazon order, and it wasn't going to be shipped until the 31st. (*cue sound effects of subdued wailing*) At which point I checked the Indie stores list, found the local bookstore was on the list, checked *their* website, found it in stock, cancelled the Amazon order and placed the local order.

It's so nice to have Bordertown back. On my shelves, I have the original Signet editions of the first two books, the Tor versions of all of the anthologies, Emma's hardcover novel, Will's two novels (hardcover and Tor paperback), and also the small press edition of Charles de Lint's story that was later in Life on the Border.

Having a new hardcover is great, and as soon as the books are available in ebook format, I'll be grabbing them for my Sony Reader.
