I just realized that there was a distinct lack of Traditional First Day of April Office Hijinks reported last week.

Unlike in 2010.

Or in 2009.

Or in 2008.

(Alas, that's as far back as Our Heroes' LiveJournals go. But Sol's comment here leads me to believe there was at least a 2007 edition.)

Sigh. It would really stink if things are so bad in the WTF that nobody's up for horseplay. Although perhaps everyone was out of the office.

I think I'd suspect they are (or were) out on a case...

OK, OK, that's what I want to believe. *wry*

I, on the other hand, did actually prank people this year, and in fact my joke is finally over, after a week. (I started early, because it was going to take a few days to reach full effect.)

Mwahahaha.

There's a rumor going around (which I do not dispute) that the restaurant is haunted. So I got three these things* and put them in various places around the restaurant, making various noises, starting a few days before April Fools, since i knew it would take a few days for people to really catch on. My chef figured out over the weekend that I was the culprit behind the creaking in the office, but didn't actually find the thing until last night. It was driving her crazy, and I, of course, denied everything (right up until they actually found it). Mwahahahaha.

*For the link-averse, it's a doodad called an Eviltron, about the diameter of a quarter, that makes several different creepy noises, and will play them either singly or cycling through them all, at intervals just long enough to make them really hard to find.

no, no, it's just awesome. I read the "testimonial" letter on the original annoyotron page and giggled for ... ok, still giggling.

MG: Awesome! (And this from someone who absolutely, utterly hates April Fools pranks...)
