Well, you know. TV characters never get to go on vacation without somebody dying. And you probably wouldn't have an episode in which Chaz and Hafs hang around on the beach.

Why not?

I want to see Brady with a surfboard.

Sadly, in keeping with the title of the episode, Chaz will already have borrowed Brady's surfboard and towel.

Fortunately, the look on Chaz's face when everybody insists that he must be Brady because he's got Brady's towel and surfboard makes up for it...

(ObDerailment: what does your translation give as the phrase that Euripides inserts into Aeschylus's lines to make fun of their repetitiveness?  My favorite is "little pastry tube".)

Why not?

Because TV characters never get to go on vacation without somebody dying. You never saw Murder She Wrote?

Fortunately, our guys have livejournals, so they get to do things that TV characters don't. Which is just one reason of many that continuity is different in the TV 'verse.

And Brady doesn't surf.

That's Lau.

Huh. I wonder if Brady even swims. That may be one of his kryptonite colors.

Professional-class upbringing in the southwest? What are the odds his family didn't have a pool?

They're somewhere on the Gulf Coast, just finished a case. Maybe it was a false alarm. But there's a hurricane hitting the Washington area, so they can't fly straight back. So Reyes books everyopne into a hotel, tells 'em they need to do a first draft on their reports, but other than that, have fun.

Pay no attention to the anvil on the ceiling.

You could probably come up with a better setup, but the idea is that you see the characters in a different state. And the ObAnomaly hits in a different way. Instead of reacting to a series of reports which set up a pattern, you're in the pattern. Can they spot it in time to save lives? Cue angsting.

Do the trap in another way: have the bad weather trap them in the hotel. There's all the cliches about slasher movies to play with. But these people won't make the usual stupid mistakes.

And if there's something happening that might be a Gamma, and they're trapped with it, who isn't going to wonder about Chaz and Hafidha?

Doesn't have to be the whole gang in the trap: the bad weather could be seriously messing with phones and the internet.

I don't think you could get away with the Ten Little Indians trick. Then again, maybe the Gamma thinks he can.

Mix and add anvils to taste.

Hee--bottle show!

('Scuse. Television production technical term for an episode you plot because you've been unbelievably over budget all season and have darn near run out of money/production time/patience from the network. So you create an episode that for some reason takes place in maybe three connected rooms, all of them existing sets requiring no new construction or lighting setup. It takes place in a bottle, in other words.)

(Amusingly, the third episode ever of Homicide: Life on the Street was a bottle show. I have no idea what the story behind that was, but I'd love to know.)

I can't find the "Frogs" easter egg.  Is it gone or (more likely) am I being obtuse?
Thanks.

So, I don't suppose there'd be any way of getting a hint as to whether we'll ever get to see any more of this episode, would there?

Well, sure, you can catch it in reruns, or download it off the WTF network site.

Oh.

You meant in this universe.
