BBC News correspondent Jane O'Brien is married to an FBI agent, and describes one of the downsides: background investigations.

Every five years my husband is re-investigated by the FBI. At worst, it's intrusive, requiring extensive information about our finances, and at best it's inconvenient, trying to find the address of an immediate relative whom nobody has seen for years.

I wonder who the Bureau uses to do the periodic BIs of Our Heroes? Especially since following up on some of their backgrounds will lead the investigators straight into the middle of the Anomaly ...

I bet this is how Reyes knows about them. Andre's death was apparently in Brady's personnel file.

Anyway, they probably use the same people from Internal Affairs (or whatever the FBI equivalent is) who investigate all their shootings and make sure they were justified. I mean, I don't think they put, "well, the UNSUB telekinetically dropped a window on my colleague and I was afraid he was going to bleed to death and/or the UNSUB would do it again to me instead so I shot the UNSUB," and the regular guys just stamp that JUSTIFIED, you know? Those people already know about the Anomaly.
