All right, everybody. Without further ado, honey cornmeal scones (from the Once Upon a Tart cookbook, which I highly recommend):

Thanks!

Thanks!

I used all the cornmeal last night making cornbread to go with chili for a mob, but will be making these soon.

*drools*  I was never terribly fond of scones.  All the scones I've ever had were rather dry and crumbly, but this sounds like I might in truth enjoy eating them.

I think it's all about being introduced to the right scones. Used to be the scones at The Grand Illusion cafe were just the best ever.

Now... well, scones without butter or cream kind of beg the question. I suspect I could make something involving crushed pecans and oat bran that I would be very happy to eat... but at that point I'm not sure there's much point in calling them scones.

No, in fact, the only point would be to go home and make them right now. And then slather them with triple berry jam. Yes. That would be a point...

Let me know what you all think of those scones! My partner-in-crime, who doesn't like most scones, requests these regularly for breakfast, which says good things about the yumminess factor for this recipe.

I managed to waste the entire morning on the internet, but am about to go make scones anyway. Scones will revive my day, right?

I shall report back.

Reporting back.

The scones are incredibly tasty, and were wildly popular with both the humans and the Ferocious Monster, who was convinced he should be allowed to stuff his feline face with them. (Humans, understanding cause and effect, cruelly prevented this. The delicate digestions of elderly cats do not match their perceptions of what they should eat. I am incredibly mean to him.)

And they did save the day, since after I had scones I proceeded to make cranberry relish, beet salad, two pies, wash all the dishes, do laundry, and write 3500 words. Thanks!
