... that I am now officially Not Jealous of tammonlinear. According to Chaz's LJ, at least, she got to hang out with both Chaz and Tasha last night: It was one of those nights. You know, those end-of-a-holiday-weekend nights when it seems like everybody has a place to go except you? Anyway, Tasha was at loose ends too, so she collected me and we went with my pal tamnonlinear (she of the awesome baked goods) to her usual hangout at the monthly Tribal Cafe at Asylum in Adams Morgan http://standuponit.livejournal.com/52285.htmlFortunately, the Not Jealous Bench is appropriately stocked with cookies.

currently my recipe for these is "go to corner store and buy some" since my SO is dieting and as a result I only buy cookies for events with friends, because if I make and there is some left she would eat them and hate herself afterwards.

Is there still room on the Jealous As Hell bench for one bearing Chaz's Brownies? This time I think I got it a bit better. Didn't overbake it for one, and I've fortified my ancho-vanilla extract about a month ago with another vanilla bean and two anchos. And the last of my Trinidadian 'estate' rum. Applied fairly liberally, since the last couple times it's been totally drowned out by the 70% chocolate I use and neither vanilla nor ancho have come through at all once baked. This time I'm pretty happy with the result.

Is there room on the Jealous as Hell Bench for one bearing buttermilk cranberry scones, still warm from the oven? I could do honey cornmeal scones instead, if people would prefer them....

ooooo ... either please, but I'll steal all the cornmeal ones and hoard them. Cornmeal here is something you feed to the pigs; it's not people food.

OK, that means we don't need my non-buttermilk cranberry scones (heavy on the nutmeg), but I'd love your recipe for honey cornmeal scones - I don't think I've even *seen* cornmeal scones. Cornbread, corn muffins, cornmeal pancakes, I grew up on all three of those, but scones? drools in anticipation* (Oh, and Anadama bread, which is a yeast bread with cornmeal and molasses, which I encountered in my late 20s and haven't made for too long...)

Right. What was I thinking? *slaps self upside the head* (Thinking has been replaced by "Ooooh! new cat! has been here a bit over 48 hours now! Sleeps snuggled with human at night! Occasionally stays on lap at computer long enough to cut of circulation in legs!") (photos on my LJ once I find where I've hidden my camera this time, may take a couple more days) (the link from PAWS of Bainbridge is here: http://www.petfinder.com/petdetail/16668470 - that "XL" in the description = OMG 18 pounds) (Also also since I've gotten her through their PALS program http://www.pawsbainbridge.org/programs/pals.html they will pay all her vet bills. Ever. No, I'm not letting them buy her food & litter as well, but they sent me home with over 3 dozen cans of gooshyfuds and a 6# bag of "senior formula" dry food and wouldn't let me say no... good grief.) *wanders off, babbling happily*
