Texas is like California: half of it is the Southwest, half of it is the other nearby geocultural region, and all of it is it's own weird thing that defies classification.
Yeah, but Texas does it on purpose!

True. California does it because we can't help it.
...is it wrong of me to think that if there was a real world gamma who only went after spammers, I hope he would never be caught?

Except we're talking gammas. So whatever they did to the spammers, it would probably be something that drew us all in... and made us feel awful.

It would probably require the spammer to email a form letter to many, many people, apologizing for being a spammer and detailing exactly how it felt as they were being killed by the gamma.

Oh, I like the concept. Hm. Maybe generalized to a gamma who got various people who did annoying but not really terribly things to write long, really heartfelt suicide notes about how much it weighed on them that everyone hated them, and then commit suicide. Possibly in a fairly public way?

Possibly in a fairly public way? How about "how much it weighed on them that they had made life more stressful, harder, worse, by a small fraction for so many people, when they could have made it a small fraction better"? Because having it weigh on them that everyone hated them is still them feeling sorry for themselves and seeing themselves as the wronged party, and I daresay that wouldn't cut it for the gamma. An actual statement of their wrongs and their responsibility for them would be preferable. And the deaths . . . hmm, it would have nice resonance to have the death method be something that's incremental, with the ending triggered by something that's usually shrugged off as annoying but not really terrible by most people. Maybe title it "It's The Little Things" or something that catches the flavor of that.

I like the feel of this... how similar are the deaths, do you think? I mean, if we already have this whole public confession / suicide thing going on, are the deaths uniform, or are they linked to whatever annoying thing they did? On Youtube?
Oh, I like this. Maybe not all of them (see above) but... So what is the mythology? What is the manifestation? I mean, we have an idea of the motivation, but how is the suicide proxied? I'm feeling kind of enamored of the idea that the gamma met all these folks on the internet, so there isn't an immediate geographical link. And to make it an interesting story, the deaths probably shouldn't be too similar - but maybe Chaz is aware of a couple of them, and then one makes it onto youtube and the pattern starts forming in his head? So what is the contact between the gamma and the victims? I mean, it really shouldn't be email. Web chat? (Chatroulette?)

Hopefully no additional interference from the network relating to an ongoing news story in the public media will occur.
