Noooooo! Rules like that ruin the game!
The real point, as far as I'm concerned, is to make up rules and justifications for your moves improvisationally. If you actually play the game it sounds like you're playing according to predetermined rules, then you don't get to do that.
Oh, and because I used the Basingstoke Precedent to open, under Bow Bell rules, I'm in Nidd for the rest of this game and the first three rounds of the next. But I got the rest of you playing!

MG, you don't use the Pantagruel Exception? That takes you out for *two* rounds of *this* game.
(The Wikipedia entry for Mornington Crescent is much better than the page Emma linked to, which makes you think it's a real game when in fact it's really, really NOT. The game is how ridiculous you can make the rules-lawyering.)
