I believe that the essential truth of our universe is that no matter how many times you fall, you can stand up if you keep trying. That no matter how futile a situation may appear, you can eventually succeed.

We could probably get along, once we got past cultural differences.  I believe that the essential truth of our universe is that, even if a situation really is futile, even if nothing you can do will get you back on your feet, it is still important to keep trying.
Because, for one thing, unless you keep trying, how can you know?

And Chaz will almost certainly count as a Gamma-hunting Gamma.

Well, but I don't think you could say Chaz or Hafhida have no connection to SU. -)

Like I stated in my big post; what would you call Hafhida?

Ma'am.

Among the things we haven't seen (or at least, I haven't seen) is the anomalous vigilante: an anomaly who picks on other anomalies, and has no connection to SU.

Winterwind, you fill me with joy.  Rapture, even.  Finally, someone has explained a Tellurian custom in a way that I not only understand, but can respond to with, "Oh, of course, that makes perfect sense."  After the last few days here (and a nasty bit of work I had to do in Sandytown), that helps my mood more than I can say.  Thank you!

Someday, I will really and truly understand all of your customs.  And that will signal, um, you must have some end-of-the-world cultural reference; pretend I've just used it.

Okay, I think I got some of that, thanks.  So then, the picture I was reacting to was not of the person doing the posting?

I'd like that, MadGastronomer.

Harajuku is something. Not sure what, but it's definitely something. Actually, Splash, there's some interesting human sociology involved in the ... insanity that is Harajuku, if you're interested.

What I reacted to were the young ladies in the picture, I don't know if that relates to Harajuku, or something else entirely.  I'm trying to be very careful, because it has been impressed on me that on Tellus anything sexual, even expression of interest or attraction, can be a tricky matter, and I don't want to give offense.  That said, yes, I would certainly be interested.

Oh, my.

I, of course, have no clue; but I think I have a good excuse.

What's on the other side of the Gurge? If it's a whirlpool, can't you just go around? (Yes, I know, going around would be so *boring*.)

Uh, it isn't that simple.  The currents for miles and miles around the Gurge are very strong, as are the winds, and they all blow in toward Port Outreach.  And as you get close to the Gurge, you lose power, so you have to rely on sail.  That said, people do sometimes make their way out--that's what the 'riders do (when they aren't just showing off).
But the usual rule for Port Outreach is, "Sail in, walk out."

Oh, yeah, we encourage speculation. *g* I'd just prefer it if every thread didn't drift into food AND defining our terms, since we have threads for term-defining established.

Well, but, when a conversation drifts into food, doesn't that mean it's going well?  I mean, what are the other options for it to drift into?

Please consider that a rhetorical question.
