if it's any consolation, although I'm pretty good at Tree and King Dancer and headstand against the wall by now, I'm working on an unsupported headstand.
Which means a lot of falling over, and the revelation that my core is not as strong as I thought. WOE!
But I did just manage tripod balance pose and a really proper Crow for the first time today.
Yoga is like climbing. Everybody sucks at their own level.

Fix your gaze on a point at eye level on the wall in front of you.
And work up to it slowly. Balance is learned. ;-)
You can try practicing at home while washing dishes. Also, try standing where you can touch a wall if you start to wobble.
And remember that balance is dynamic--it will shift, and you will feel your weight moving around. That's normal. Also, remember that your core muscles are critical to balance--lower back and abdominal muscles are really doing a lot of the work of keeping you balanced.
So as those develop and strengthen, your balance will improve.
Good luck, and congratulations!

After about a week of failed attempts and waiting I have captured something that looks like the dreaded(or was it breaded?) wild shoggoth, it is the first shoggoth I captured- I think I'll call it Binky. Does anyone have advice as to feeding and nurturing of shoggoths?
The King Arthur Flour site and http://sourdough.com/ both have really good guides.

Hi, Joe!
Thank you!
Currently we've got a narrative arc planned ending about this time next year. After that, we're going to regroup and see what happens. ;-)
So--at least one more year of bimonthly Shadow Unit.
