1  Episodes / Episodes, Season 3 / Re: 3x07, "Ligature" on: February 07, 2011, 11:24:00 pm
Wow, just wow.

Also, there were bits that were very surreal to read because I grew up in Seattle. Although I haven't been there in 15+ years I still have fond childhood memories of several of the places mentioned, especially the locks. Yeah, 'homesick'* was a rather bizarre reaction to be having to that scene.

*I can afford the ticket, but not the time off, woe.

Heh, me too. Unless I'm specifically recommending something to someone, my idea of a book review tends to be "It was neat" or "I liked it lots". And yeah, I liked The Bone Palace lots. It was so wonderfully believably complicated, if that makes sense.

I finished it yesterday, and loved it. Has anyone else?

Yay! And thank you Smiley.

Heh, I drive by the edge of the on in Cincinnati on a regular basis, and usually don't think anything of it...But yeah, as tylik said upthread it's a tiny area and not so much a neighborhood as a few blocks.
6  Cast & Crew / Sarah Monette / Kyle Murchison Booth And Friends on: November 01, 2010, 07:50:18 pm
The sketch of Booth I did after my seasonal re-read of The Bone Key. Thought some people here might want to see it, and in any case the poor guy could really use some more love.

7  Episodes / DVD Extras and Easter Eggs / Re: Season three extras! on: June 20, 2010, 08:59:50 pm
Oh dear lord, I relate a little bit too much to that scene, because I've had that conversation more than once (not about the FBI shield). Learning to pay attention to letter spacing is probably one of the most annoyingly distracting things I've ever done.

Bad signage is everywhere!
8  General Category / General Discussion / Re: What We Do Off-board on: May 23, 2010, 08:23:57 pm
Heh, yeah, I got talked into climbing by a friend a couple of months ago, and while it's a surprising amount of fun (oh what a way to figure out for certain that yes, I've gotten over that fear of heights), I'm not convinced being able to feel muscles in my back and arms that I've only ever seen in anatomy diagrams because OMG they hurt is a feature.

My timeline o'doom is very handy for looking up things quickly. I'd share it, but I A) keep adding things and B) am not really sure what the best way to share text documents would be.

Let's see, other than being Helpful and Informative for the day job (floor staff at a museum), I draw, draw, draw, read, paint, sculpt (when I can afford the materials, anyways), spray paint stencil projects, cook, research whatever topic I happen to be interested in at the moment, and work on my timeline of Doom. It's currently 14 pages long, color coded, covering major world leaders and events (plus whatever I happened to think of) from 1600-2000. I wanted something that I could glance at and quickly figure out who was in charge where when ____ was going on, and it's turned into a monster.

:Curses work schedule that was not conducive for reading this all in one go:

That was intense, and wonderful, and oh team... I was expecting to feel the knives for Chaz and Hafs; Brady and Lau caught me by surprise.
11  General Category / General Discussion / Re: Congratulations, you've won the internets! Now what? on: January 08, 2010, 12:41:26 am
Mm, sadly the first thing that comes to mind is the Internet from "The IT Crowd", so a black box with a blinking red light on top. I'd rather have a mechanical pony Smiley.
12  Episodes / Episodes, Season 2 / Re: 2x08, "Not Alone" [Season finale] on: October 05, 2009, 01:00:30 am
Holy fuck no, not Hafs! That was horrible (and I mean that in a no don't let it end there sort of way)!

Also, yay for an episode set in my state! I spent a stupid amount of time distracting myself from the Ominous Doom by trying to figure out where, exactly, not!Youngstown was supposed to be, sort of as the equivalent of watching the TV through your fingers.
13  Episodes / Episodes, Season 2 / Re: 2x07, "Smoke & Mirrors" on: September 07, 2009, 10:34:35 pm
Lovely storytelling, awesome payoff. And Reyes? Even when I think he's being an utter asshole, is fascinating to watch, and has become one of my favorites to read about.

If I tried to quote specific lines I liked I'd be quoting the whole episode Smiley.
14  Episodes / DVD Extras and Easter Eggs / Re: We've gotten predictable... on: August 23, 2009, 11:18:20 pm
Well. That's not good. Not good at all.

For the first couple of lines I thought it was Hope narrating.
