1  Characters / Madeline Frost / Re: twisted on: January 29, 2008, 03:42:54 pm
I can't wait to see what is done with this character, actually. She's got an utterly different viewpoint into things that could be used to good effect for critical realizations or moments. Mwahaha.

Hopping on the "Sharing a fun gaming story" boat... (heh heh.)

Playing Deadlands, a bunch of us players were stuck on a boat, caught by the Evil Guys and obviously all in dire trouble. The option of hopping off the boat (our first one) was out of the question, due to the shark infested waters. Starving sharks, out to eat anything even daring to venture near the water, which was demonstrated to us when one of the players lobbed one of the mooks overboard during the preliminary fight.

So, we're doing out best to now die while battling out according to each player's abilities (unfortunately, mine was mostly about explosives and I was given evil warning looks by my fellow players about even considering doing so – and similar warning looks in game no less, by the other characters, which led to much pouting... but I digress).

At one point during the fight, Captain Blood (yep) is swinging around on a rope, defying the heroes (he had an imperviousness to being simply shot dead - or deader) and mocking us as the number of mooks threatens to overwhelm us and the GM is having a grand ole time describing the scene to us just as we're all about to get caught in one way or another.

And listening careful, I meep up: "Wait. He's swinging over the water on a rope?"

"Yes!" Gleeful nod, smug expression from the GM. "For he is Captain Blood! Daring and agile and able to do anything he wishes!" (Or something to that effect.)

"...he's swinging over the shark infested waters? On the end of a rope?"

The GM started to nod, opened his mouth to say more, then froze. I translated the ensuing sound to mean something along the lines of  "I hate you, augh!", though we'd not have heard anything else he said anyway over the mad laughing of the players.

The sharpshooter of the party made short work of that particular, meant to be very long term, bad guy. =)

(I ran an ARG once.  Nine months I spent writing everything, creating the puzzles, and setting up all of the characters' online identities.

Which one, out of curiosity?  Smiley

Browser translating the code fu for an accent in French as gibberish. Probably an artifact from the word processor program to the web coding program.

This is a good chart to work from, in that regard: http://www.tedmontgomery.com/tutorial/HTMLchrc.html
